RUTS - The Series
Run Under The Stars - The Series. We are trying something new for 2016. Several people have asked over the years for us to host a RUTS event near them.
We have 5 events... different distance loops... different running surfaces... different cities.
All are still flat and easy running. All offer the same 8pm til 6am format.
Camp or set up next to the course. Restrooms with running water (some with showers!).
Caps, shirts, great custom medals.
Family friendly... most have a nice playground on site.

Welcome to Run Under The Stars
Welcome to the 10th running of Run Under The Stars all night run, aka RUTS, aka the Kentucky Durby.
We are so appreciative of you runners who return year after year, and to those of you running your first RUTS, welcome to the party!!
***RUN UNDER THE STARS*** 10 HOUR ENDURANCE RUN:
This is a night time run. Run, jog, walk, rest, stop and start as much as you'd like.
The objective is to see how far you can go; however you can stop at any time if you've reached your goal or if you've had enough.
CHIP TIMING SYSTEM will keep your distance recorded. We will display your distance continually at the timing tent. Check the monitor. Hard copies will be posted hourly.
No traffic, no hills, no roots, no hard running surface.
NO HOT SUN BEATING DOWN ON YOU.
This could possibly be the course you'll set a personal best for whatever distance you run.
On Site Parking, either in the huge parking lot, or right on the grass infield. br />No hotel needed. Campers are welcome). You can set up a tent under the large shade trees in the grass infield. You can use your car. Or you can use the large covered grandstands. There is plenty of room. This is a good one to bring the family to. You can stop and see them as much as you like.
200 individual runners; and 10 relay teams. This is a wide track with plenty of room so we should be able to take care of everyone.
Saturday evening June 11, 2016 beginning at 8pm and ending Sunday morning June 12, at 6am.
CHECK IN: You can set up beginning after noon on Saturday June 11, and you don't have to depart until noon on Sunday June 12.
WHERE: Luther Carson Park, 300 N. 30th Street, Paducah, KY.
PACKET PICK UP:
Saturday June 11; 4 pm - 7:30 pm at the race site.
Carson Park Horse Track, Paducah, KY, is a certified 1/2 mile track composed of dirt and finely crushed limestone. It is groomed daily and will be set up with a 1/2 inch cushion to make it easy on your legs. The track drains well and does not get sloppy, even in the event of rain. However, heavy rains may necessitate parking cars in the parking lot outside of the track fence instead of on the grass infield. Don't need a lot of cars stuck. This lighted jewel is flat, and contains no trip hazards.
10 relay teams will be accepted. A team will consist of 2 or 4 members. One member will attach the timing chip and wear the race belt with the team bib # attached. Members must exchange the timing chip and belt to whichever member is accumulating mileage for the team. It is permissable that team members run for their own personal mileage when they are not running for the team, but their mileage does not count towards the total. Team members may run as much or little as they want, and in whichever order they please. In fact, one or two runners can run 90% of the distance if that's what the team wants. NOTE: relay runners are not eligible for individual awards (most mileage)

Check your odometer as you exit I-24 Exit 4, East on US 60 (Hinkleville Rd, although it soon changes names to Park Ave), you'll pass several car dealerships, and you'll PASS Bluegrass Downs race track at mile 1.7(DO NOT GO TO BLUEGRASS DOWNS). 2.4 miles from the interstate turn RIGHT at the traffic light at Dairy Queen (across from Bob Noble Park) and continue to follow US 60 East (note: NOT US 60 Business). Go straight through the next traffic light. In less than 1/2 mile you'll see an entrance for Luther Carson Park on your right. If you take this entrance, then follow the gravel road to the left and behind the grandstands over to the parking area. If this entrance is not open merely continue on to the next traffic light (Jefferson St) and turn right. Go to N. 30th Street (about 1/2 mile) and turn right. The entrance to the park is one block on your right on N. 30th.
Aid Stations/Drop Bags
AID STATIONS: A large station will be set up right on the track (out of the way of runners of course).
Each runner may supply their own water bottle (please mark your name on it) and tables will be available to place your bottle. (This should greatly reduce the number of paper cups needed).
S.W.O.R.D. hydration drink, water, soda, Hammer Gel, Cookies, Pretzels, M&Ms, watermelon, bananas, and other food items will be available.
As the night goes on we'll bring in pizza, and we'll have coffee available.
Two different Rest rooms with running water are available each lap. The first one is off of turn 2. You may exit through the marked gate, use the rest room and re-enter further down the track at the next gate. The second rest room is just off of turn 3.
DROP BAGS: You can have whatever you want at your site either in the infield, grandstands, or at your car. NOTE: IF YOU LEAVE THE TRACK, YOU MUST RE-ENTER AT THE SAME SPOT YOU EXITED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE REST ROOM AT TURN 2.
Individual runners receive the following: Short Sleeve Shirt; Drawstring Backpack; Running cap; Finisher's Award with a space reserved for you to enter your total distance.
Relay Team members each receive the shirt, drawstring backpack, cap, and finisher's award. NOTE: relay members are not eligible for individual awards, however your individual mileage will be shown in the results.
Besides all of the amenities you receive there will also be special awards for the five males and females who cover the most distance; and to the top five Relay teams covering the most distance.
