The goal of this event is to unit the running community together around the world. We would like runners to dedicate and "LOG" their miles on Sept 27th - 28th to this event, Run Around the World. The Earth is 24,901 miles in circumference at the equator. We hope to log a total of 24,901 miles on this day. With this being the goal we are going to do a little something different with timing. The time for the 24hr race will actually be (24hr 9min 01sec) long... This should give everyone a little more time to finish that notorious last mile.
We want this to be a fun, family friendly event that you'll remember. In order to do this there will be many things going on throughout the day, and night, to help keep you motivated and inspired to rack up as many miles as you can. This will mark the end of a Kids Marathon where children from all over the county will come to run their final mile. There will be a kids fun zone where bounce houses and games will be available, a corn hole Tournament, live music in the evening and music throughout your entire run.
Local time: 3:55 AM
Saturday Sept 27th at 6am until Sunday Sept 28th at 6am
*We will be holding 3 different races, on the same "figure 8" course.
There will be a 6hr, 12hr and 24hr solo race.
The races will be held at the Winfree Bryant Middle School located at 1213 Leeville Pike, Lebanon, TN 37087.
*This year we have added to the course to give runners more options depending on which surface you prefer. The course consists of 2 different, super flat, 1 mile loops with the option to run on either soft grass or pavement. The course will be in a figure 8 format with one central point, so you can switch loops as often as you want. The grass loop is the perfect mix of grass and very little pavement. The new loop is 100% pavement and will connect with the main highway for about 40ft. The last mile of our kids marathon will be run on one of these loops, so there will be younger kids out there running with you for several hours and they'll be feeding off you guys, as you will feed off them. Last year we got nothing but positive feedback about having the kids run with you all.
*Aid station each mile filled with some yummy snacks and food at certain times throughout the day and night. We want to make sure you are fed and aren't left starving. Each runner will be required to have at least one water bottle or hydration pack. We will have water and different Gatorade flavors throughout the race.
*Reasons for disqualificaiton:
1.yelling at children, or vilence of any kind (This will get you kicked out faster than anything)
2.running anything other than the offical course
3.cutting the course short
The course will have very little tree cover, and there is typically an awesome breeze blowing all day. You may expect to see some occasional wildlife.
You will be permitted to set up a tent in a specific area on Friday night Sept 26th and leave it up until the end of the race on Sunday morning Sept 28th.
Custom finisher awards will be given to all those left standing or crawling at the end. Buckles for 24hr finishers, with Medals for 12 and 6hr finishers.
Showers will be available after the race, thanks to the principle of the Middle School.
