The Rhode Island Aquatic Hall of Fame invites you to swim in its third annual 1.2 mile open-water race in one of New England’s most scenic waterways, beautiful Narragansett Bay at The Newport Beach Club. This year's event enhancements include a 200-swimmer cap, RFID chip timing, a "Step-Up Relay" cumulative-time team award and a post-race breakfast buffet. Proceeds will benefit the RIAHOF Endowment and Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to Rhode Island high school seniors.

1.2 miles. All swimmers will start together in one wave and be allowed 90 minutes to complete the triangular course. Course markings include large yellow turn buoys, red directional buoys, stationary kayakers and motorboat spotters.

Categories (2):

Non-wetsuit and wetsuit. Only non-wetsuit swimmers are eligible to compete for the Step-Up Relay team award.

Age Groups (3):

29 & under, 30 to 49, and 50+. All swimmers must document their ability to complete the prescribed course.

Individual Awards (8):

First male and female finisher in each age group in each category.
First overall male and female finishers who are RIAHOF inductees.
No duplicate winners.

Step-Up Relay Team Award (1):

Fastest cumulative time. Three-person, coed non-wetsuit teams consisting of one swimmer from each age group. Click here to view/download the Step Up Relay entry form. Relay entry forms will be available at the check-in desk on race day.


RFID chip timing system provided by New England Timing.

Registration Cap:

The first 200 registered swimmers.

Entry Fee (non-refundable):

$40 for swimmers who register online by July 9th 11:59 p.m. or via the paper entry form postmarked by July 2nd.
$45 for swimmers who register on-site between 7:30 and 8:40 a.m. on July 12th, space allowing.

Post-Race Buffet Breakfast Fee (optional):

Prepaid breakfast buffet reservations required. On-site breakfast reservations on race day, if any, will be subject to availability.

$18 per person for the first 100 swimmers who pre-register for the race online.
$18 per person for event volunteers (please contact Event Director Paul McCaffrey at
$24 per person for all other pre-registered participants, family members and spectators.
Race entrants may purchase breakfast reservations for friends/family during the race registration process.

Non-swimmers or race entrants who did not prepay for breakfast reservations during registration may purchase reservations by making out a check for $24 per person to "Rhode Island Aquatic Hall of Fame" and mailing it to Victor Bevilacqua, 204 Jefferson Road, Harrisville, RI 02830. All paper breakfast reservations must be RECEIVED by Wednesday, July 9th.

MENU: Buttermilk biscuit egg sandwich with local cheddar and apple wood smoked bacon; Homemade muffins, flaky breakfast pastries and seasoned butters; Sliced fruits, seasonal berries and local honey yogurt; House-made granola & cereal display; Assorted fruit juices and water. Bar orders not included in price.
