WANTED: Enthusiastic trail chicks with insight, perspective, and a desire to share their passion for the sport!
We’ve noticed an alarming lack of women at trail races throughout the Southeast and in the sport of trail running in general. After surveying the running and outdoors community, we’ve noticed some trends in the perceived boundaries women face when venturing onto trails. The Rock/Creek Women’s Trail Running Summit will bring together a group of like-minded, trail-running women to foster new connections, discuss how we can improve female participation in trail running, and develop ourselves as ambassadors of the sport.
The weekend certainly won’t be all work and no play, though! Situated right on the Ocoee River, attendees will have plenty of opportunities for beautiful trail running, swimming, and just enjoying the mountains of eastern Tennessee!
The event will be guided by Rock/Creek race team members Erin Hannen and Dreama Campbell and supported by the staff and vendors from Rock/Creek.
*Unfortunately, due to space limitations at the lodge, this event will be invitation only until June 10, 2014 at noon. After this time, any remaining spots will be opened up.

Friday (Optional events occur throughout check-in; scheduled events begin with Dinner on Friday evening):

Check-in (5-7:30) // Optional easy run for early-arriving attendees // Dinner at 8PM, welcome, introductions
Breakfast // Trail run (options from ~5mi to 20mi) // Lunch // Stretching, strengthening, injury prevention discussion // Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), swimming // Dinner and women in trail running discussion
Breakfast // Shorter trail run (4-6mi) // Swimming // Check-out
What you’ll need to bring:
• Running gear (clothes, shoes, etc)
• Lounge clothes
• Bathing suit
• Favorite snacks or nutrition for the run
• Handheld water bottle or hydration pack
• Pillow and linens or a sleeping bag
• Towel(s) and toiletries
• Yoga mat and life jacket (only if you have them)
What we’ll provide:
• Meals, including Friday dinner through Sunday breakfast
• Guided trail runs, strengthening/stretching, and other sessions
• Sweet swag and product demos from Rock/Creek
• A great time!
Minimum skill/fitness level:
No specific skills required, but participants should be comfortable running at least 7mi on trails.
A 75% refund can be offered to participants if notice of cancellation is given by July 1st (25% are nonrefundable, upfront costs). After that point we regretfully will be unable to offer refunds due to reservations and scheduling of events in advance of the summit.
