Kesugi Ridge Traverse Trail Run

Denali State Park , AK 28 Miler

This Event Took Place Sat. Sep 6, 2014

Description

Located in Denali State Park, the Kesugi Ridge course starts at the Little Coal Creek trailhead and finishes at Byers Lake. Starting around 1200 feet, the trail climbs steadily to above tree line to a high, alpine ridge with a high point of 3500 feet. The trail is marked with cairns in most places. About halfway, the Ermine Hill trail comes in from the right. Then, the trail descends into a forested valley at about 1500 feet. It again climbs up above tree line until it descends to Byers Lake via the Cascade Trail.  The course will finish up in the Byers Lake campground with food, drinks and awards.

Please be aware that this is not a race for beginner trail runners. Marathon/ultramarathon AND trail running experience is a must. Familiarity with the course is very important. Weather is routinely nasty, rainy (with snow), cold with frequent limited visibilty. There will be time cut-offs both mid-race and overall. See website for details.
