This race is not for you if you do not like a challenge. The high heat and climbs of Northern California keeps the finishing rate of this race under 55% every year. Come test yourself. If you are not up for the full 50 miles, bring a friend and register for the relay.
From Cool to Folsom; this course follows the Nineteenth Century gold miners path along the North Fork of the American River.
This path was worn in by miners in search of a good sand bar for gold panning.
Eventually their path would become known as the Pioneer Express Trail: the most express route from the gold fields along the American river to Folsom.
The course starts at the Cool Horse Staging Area in Cool, CA., runners will complete a clover leaf style loop and then will connect to the Pioneer Express Trail toward Folsom by using the Western States trail. The race will end along the American River Bike path at Beals Point Recreation Area, where camping and lake access is available.
The course is 99% trail.
Bring your swim suits, there is water on the lake!
50 mile finishers will receive a long sleeve jacket along with all the extra swag STR is known for.
Pacer are only to join the runner at designated spots. Please, see our website for detailed instructions.
Pacers are not allowed in the Relay race.
Come test your limits as a team! - You and another of your friends can run all the way from Cool, CA to Folsom, CA
Only one runner at a time. This event consist of Two legs:
1st leg - From Cool to Auburn Overlook point (24.1 miles**)
2nd leg - From Auburn (gate 142 AS) to Finish at Beals Point recreation area (25.9 miles**)

Relay Runners will have to switch bib numbers. We recommend using a running belt to quickly switch the number between runners.
