Black Butte Ranch presents its 5th Annual TRI For FUN Triathlon!

The TRI For Fun is a short, sprint-distance event designed to be an incredible opportunity to try a triathlon for the first time, or to have fun in a competition with your family and friends! This year we are introducing not only a Kids Super Sprint division, but also a Sprint Duathlon! Feeling Nervous about the swim section? Try the Duathlon! Have some kids interested in becoming a triathlete? Enter them into the Kids Super Sprint! If you are wondering if a team can compete, the answer is… YES, in Sprint Triathlon division.

Course Details

Course Info:

Sprint Triathlon Distances:
300 yard swim in the Lakeside Pool
9.3 mile through the curves and hills of Black Butte Ranch
3.5 mile run through the BBR meadow. Gorgeous views of the Cascade Mountain Range with close up views of Washington, Jefferson, Three Fingered Jack, Three Sisters, and Black Butte.
(Team relay available for this distance: 3 people per team)

Sprint Duathlon Distances:
9.3 mile bike
3.5 mile Run

KIDS Super Sprint Triathlon Distances:
100 yard swim
3.5 mile bike:
1.2 mile run (Begins at the Activities Center, turn around at Robert’s Pub)

Aid Station: There will be one aid station positioned at the intersection of South Meadow Pool. The cyclists pass this aid station twice. The runners will pass it once.

Because the swim leg is in a pool the race is run in a format requiring waves of swimmers at the start. Swimmers will be placed with others of similar ability. Each racer then moves on to bike and run, in that order.

Packet pick up:
Sunday July 2nd – (Race Day) 6:45am Lakeside Activities Center

All racers feel free to arrive to stage their gear, sign in, and have their biked checked between 6:45am and 7:45am.

Race briefing will take place on the Lakeside Pool deck at 7:45am.

Race will begin promptly at 8:00am.

What To Expect

Is this your first triathlon? Welcome! We're happy you're here and we aim to do everything we can to make it a fun experience. You will be challenged, no doubt, but preparation is the surest way to a successful race, and more importantly, a good time.

A few things to note: Make sure you take the time to prepare your body, gear, and your mind well before the race. Race day is not the time to wear new equipment or apparel. Make sure you've tested and broken in your gear well beforehand.

All Entrants! Food and snacks will be available at the finish line!

Raffle: Begins at 11:30am. Registrants only. Please do not leave the race early!! Ticket will be included in the racer packet. Raffle includes T-shirts, water bottles, Sponsor Swag, and other awesome gifts!

Spectators: Please bring your family and friends to watch you race! We ask that only registered racers and volunteers partake in the post-race food.

Parking:
