Course description

Beavertail Half – 1,270ft of gain. The race will start at 6:30 a.m.

Set just outside of Ridgecrest Ca. at the corner of 395 and Brown road. This race takes place in the El Paso Mountain range and the backdrop for these mountains is the Southern Sierra’s with Owens Peak looming in the background.

Beavertail Half has a mix of jeep roads, sand washes, single track and a couple short steep climbs and descents at the end. It will have one aid station that you will hit twice. Mile 2.75 and mile 8.75.

There will be no drop bags.

A portion of the proceeds is going to go to the China Lake Mountain Rescue Group. CLMRG is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization which provides search and rescue services on an on-call basis. It is sponsored by the Naval Air Weapons Station at China Lake, CA, responds to the Kern County Sheriff Department, and is a member of the Mountain Rescue Association (MRA). The primary mission of the China Lake Mountain Rescue Group is search and rescue of lost or injured persons, any season of the year, in the mountains and desert or in any type of wilderness terrain.

Awards and Swag

If you are looking for a finisher’s medal, swag bag full of goodies, unicorns, pillows or rabbits, I am sorry, this race is not for you. If you’re into hanging out with like-minded people who love to run, great volunteers and well stocked aid stations then you have found a great place to spend your morning.

Aid Stations

The aid stations will be stocked with water, electrolyte drink, candy, chips, watermelon and bananas.

Weather

Lows are usually in the mid 50’s and highs in the mid 90’s. As soon as the sun comes out it warms up fast so plan accordingly.
