Cubihatcha Earth Day Ultra Challenge

100 Collins Rd

Locust Grove, GA 50K, 15 Miler, 7.5 Miler

This Event Took Place Sat. Apr 21, 2018

Description

Revolution Running in partnership with the Cubihatcha Outdoor Education Center present the third annual Cubihatcha Challenge. This year we decided to move the race to Earth Day weekend which we feel best represents what this race and what the education center are all about. The Cubihatcha Outdoor Education Center has been very instrumental in teaching children about taking care of our planet. You will be able to choose from 1 loop (7.5 mi.), 2 loops (15 mi.) or 4 loops (50k) around the pristine Long Branch Reservoir. Cubihatcha has some of the most beautiful trails on the South side of Atlanta. The trail around the lake is a mostly flat double track that will be great for first timers or those looking to PR. The Cubihatcha Outdoor Education Center is a wetland enhancement and protection corridor created to improve and protect existing wildlife habitats, while also providing an avenue for public education and enjoyment. Proceeds from the race will benefit the youth outdoor education programs at Cubihatcha. There is no time limit on the 7.5 or 15 mile race so feel free to do as much walking as you would like, however the 50k participants must start on their 4th loop by the seventh hour. What a great way to celebrate Earth Day! Come join in the fun!

Aid Stations

There will be an aid station at the start/finish and one approximately halfway out on the loop. The aid station will be stocked with water, sports drink, and the usual aid station food (sports gels, bananas, cookies, PB&J) . You will be required to carry either a water bottle or hydration pack. If you must drop from the race please do so at either of the two aid stations and let a volunteer know.

Awards and Swag

This year every participant will receive a short sleeve race t-shirt. All finishers will receive a sapling that they can bring home and plant to remember their accomplishment for a long time to come. All 50k finishers will receive a unique engraved planter. Top 3 male and female at each distance will receive the signature bird box award that this race has come to be known for!
