Stay Away 50K

Main Street Park

Cedar City, UT 50K

This Event Took Place Sat. Aug 15, 2020

CONCERNING COVID-19

This is inaugural race, a test of sorts- and limited to 39 racers the first year; based on bus/transport capacity in Cedar City.

Due to the very small field, and the GREEN LIGHT from Cedar City and Bureau of Land Management, unless Utah shuts down completely (highly unlikely), we are GOOD TO GO.

We may require you to wear a face mask on the bus for the 6 miles of transport between the finish line and the start line. But that's easy, right?

We will take every precaution and follow State mandates, and host a race as safe as humanly possible. But please don't come if you feel sick, or even have the sniffles.

A few days before the event we'll advise you of what we're doing and what we expect you to do to keep us all safe and in compliance with health advisories/standards.

ABOUT THE RACE

This STAY AWAY 50K is held in conjunction with the Cedar City Fire Road 100K & 60K cycling event.

As cyclists with running friends, we thought it would be fun to host a race where we give you a pretty decent (fair?) head start, and then chase you. We're faster when we're chasing. We imagine people that are running would be faster if they were being chased. Truth? Or???

We'll give you a lead of 6 miles and half an hour. GO! We're coming for you. See if you can STAY AWAY.

The first one to the top of the hill, and it's a long and steep one, WINS! The rest, well, that's just for fun! King and Queen of the Mountains cowbells for first male and first female- whether on foot or on a bicycle.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a "test" event with a very small field of no more than 30 runners. There are 3 aid stations on the course for cyclists and runners; and roving ATV support with extra water. The running course has a different final descent than the cyclists: Down the single track "C trail."
