A Savage Journey through the Heart of the American Dream

Welcome to the 39th Annual run since 1985, jointly presented by Haight Ashbury Ultra Society and Fat Ass Runners.

You'll start in the gorgeous sunrise from Twin Peaks, the highest vista point in the city, with the entire city under your feet. The single loop course, 50 Kilos or 50 Miles, leads you to all the tourist spots on foot. You'll navigate with errors and practice the art of getting lost. In the end, you'll get back to the finish where your car awaits, one way or the other.

This is a fat ass event, “No Fees, No Awards, No Aid, No Wimps.” However, we are kind and generous enough to provide aid stations like those races you pay dearly. If you are brave enough to make the 4hr 45 min cutoff at mile 25, you are allowed to run the 50 miler. Otherwise, you'll turn to the 50K route.

A qualifier for Ohlone Wilderness 50K Trail Run.

Aid Stations

The fact is You don't need them! "In the past (when we ran it), we got pastries from the Ferry Building, cappuccinos from North Beach, dim sum from Chinatown, etc. After all, it's supposed to be an urban adventure :-)" -- DC ZombieRunner (Organizer, 2006 - 2011)

The reason is We volunteers want to laugh out loud at your stories of navigation errors in practicing the art of getting lost.

They are not guaranteed, but mostly provided from cars parked at approximately
