Duncan Ridge Trail

Vogel State Park

Blairsville, GA 50K, 30K

Registration closes: Thu, Nov 21 @ 11:59PM ET

Description

The Duncan Ridge Trail 50K/30K will be one of the toughest 50Ks in the Southeast with more than 10,000 feet of elevation gain. The actual elevation profile is displayed in the logo, but that is just the “out” of an “out and back” race. This race uses the Coosa Backcountry Trail and the Duncan Ridge Trail, which is considered one of the toughest trails in Georgia. The race will start and finish at Vogel State Park’s Lake Trahlyta in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains. There will be a 30K option as well. All proceeds go back to the park volunteers every year.

Course

50k race route:
The race will start in front of cabin 20. The route will follow the Coosa Back Country Trail north out of the park and across HWY 180. When the Coosa Back Country Trail intersects the DRT , the route will turn right towards Coosa Bald. Runners will follow the DRT until Fish Gap at FS road 88. This is the turn around point for the 50k runners. You will then follow the same route back to the finish. All running will be on trails except for a 1/4 mile section of paved road in Vogel State Park. Note 30k option: Runners can choose to switch to the 30k at the 2nd AS and still finish, but they must inform an AS volunteer.
