Course Description

Come join Nashville Running Company for our Defeated Creek Half Marathon. . . if you dare. Defeated Creek is located on the Bearwaller Gap trail between the Defeated Creek campground and the Scenic Overlook – which features spectacular views of Cordell Hull Lake and the Cumberland River. The Defeated Creek campground is easily accessible off of 40-East and is just outside of Carthage, TN.

While breathtakingly beautiful, with its extremely narrow single track, rocky, steep terrain, and over 2400’ of ascent, this race is not for beginners or the faint of heart. There will be ONE aid station which is located at the halfway/turn-around point at the Scenic Overlook. This will also be the ONLY location for racers to drop from the race.

To qualify, runners MUST have completed a half marathon or race of a longer distance.

All proceeds of the Defeated Creek Half Marathon will go to the Smith County Rescue Squad and Team Red, White, & Blue. Team RWB is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of American's veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. Important Race Information

There will be water and aid stations on the course, but they will not have cups. You MUST carry your own handheld if you plan to drink from the stations. We are doing this in an effort to cut down on course trash and keep the park clean. Plan to bring and keep all food trash on your person at all times. If you are seen throwing trash on the ground you will be disqualified from any award opportunity. There will be trash receptacles at each aid stations.
