Course
There are seven aid stations for the 50K and 12 for the 50M. The course is run on 99 percent dirt trails and dirt roads. Elevations: Runners climb 5,800 feet and descend 6,100 feet in the 50K; runners climb 9,200 feet and descend 9,200 feet in the 50M. Elevation high: 8,266 feet. Low: 4,700 feet. PLEASE NOTE: The 50K is now 31 miles long; in years past, the course was 34.5 miles, but with reconfiguration due to the Hawken Fire, the course is now a true 50K. Also, due to Forest Service closures from the 2007 Hawken Fire, the course no longer takes runners into the Carson Range on Reno's west flank -- no more 8-mile climb to the Microwave Station.
