Description
Run or hike a 3.5-mile loop as many or few times as you wish in 6 hours! Enjoy single-track trails through AVIS’s largest reservation, the Harold R. Rafton of 226 acres, and its surrounding forest. The course includes sections of The Bay Circuit Trail and Conservation Commission Lands, and passes along the Fish Brook, through stonewalls and over streams. The trails are rocky and root-riddled and could be muddy, snow or ice-covered in mid-March. It might also be in the mid-70's. This IS New England. Under clear conditions the loop is fast with one reasonable climb and a few little “rollers.” In this natural oasis, there are no road crossings, few visible houses, and fewer Yeti sightings. We run—rain, snow or shine. NO REFUNDS and NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION. Only severe lightening or blizzard will reschedule.
Runner check-in will be 7:30 to 8:30 am, mandatory briefing at 8:45 am sharp and race starts at 9:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm.
Additional Information: Other than 200 feet of asphalt—leading to/from the trail head—the course is on single-track trails. Parking, registration, loop-check, start/finish are at the Wood Hill Middle School. You will have access to your personals at a drop bag area and we'll have one abundant aid station. Two portable outhouse will be available near start/finish area, also. After expenses, remaining funds will be divided and donated to the land organizations that own, preserve and maintain these woods for our enjoyment. Information about and memberships to land organizations will be available as well!
