About the Superior "Spring" Trail Race 50KM & 25KM
The Superior 50KM & 25KM Trail Races are both out-and-back 100% trail / ultramarathon races which traverses the Sawtooth Mountain Range on the Superior Hiking Trail in the far reaches northern Minnesota . The course parallels Lake Superior, the greatest freshwater lake in the world, climbs to near 2000' peaks with breath-taking vistas of the lake and inland forests and crosses whitewater rivers and serene streams while meandering through mystic Boreal forests. The race starts and finishes at Caribou Highlands Resort in Lutsen Minnesota. 25K runners will have access to aid stations and 50K runners will have access to 4 aid stations between the start and finish. The 50KM race has 4200 feet of climbing and 4200 feet of descending for a NET elevation change of 8400 feet. The 25KM race has 2300 feet of climbing and 2300 feet of descending for a NET elevation change of 4600 feet.
