This will be the 11th annual running of SweetH20 50K. First let me say, this is NOT a good first 50K and by all means not a hike. In it's 3rd year Blue Ridge Magazine rated it in the top 10 toughest 50K's in the country. Now that you have been warned, proceed with caution.
9 time finisher Rob Apple says "This race has an out West feel to it with a little bit of everything, from hills to water crossings to the technical stuff to very runnable sections".
The park now has yurts and camping so reserve for race weekend early! Come and enjoy a challenging and exciting race at the beautiful Sweetwater Creek State Park. This park, located in Lithia Springs, Georgia, offers winding, moderately difficult trails with creek crossings in and around the park, following the lovely rapids of Sweetwater Creek, and venturing past Civil War-era textile mill ruins.
The Start/Finish will be at the group shelter this year. The course will be open for 9 hours, with all aid stations closing at 4:15 p.m so respect the distance and THIS course, train hard! Intermediate cut offs include: Runners who arrive at the creek crossing after 12:30 p.m. will be asked to return to the start/finish area. Runners arriving at the School Spur for the second time after 3:30 p.m.(extended from 3:00pm this year) will be asked to drop and can be brought back to the start/finish area. The 9 hour time limit and cut offs will be enforced, so please train accordingly as this race is not meant to be a hike.I f you choose to not train properly pls refrain from entering.
