The Lean Horse Ultra is considered to be one of the best first time ultra’s in the country because of the great running surface and gentle elevation changes.
There are many things changing at the Lean Horse 100 this year. We are now starting the race in Custer, SD. I am finalizing the course and will have updated information and map soon. We are very excited about the changes and are working hard at organizing the 2014 event.
For more than nine years, Lean Horse 100 Ultra has inspired runners of all abilities and from all walks of life, from all over the country to come to South Dakota to test themselves over the 50k, 50 mile and 100 mile distances. This year we will offer two more races. We will have a 30K and a Five person 100 Mile Relay.
Come see why people from all over the country come to South Dakota to participate in the Lean Horse Hundred Ultra Marathon.

Lean Horse 100 Relay Information
Local time: 8:44 AM
The Lean Horse 100 wants to bring you into the sport of ultra running with the support of friends and family in “bite size” chunks of running. We are offering runners the option to participate in relay teams of 2 or 5. This will be the first year that we are offering the Relay options and we are very excited about it.
If this is your first time venturing in to the distance relays, then you’re in for a real treat. Imagine you and a group of your closest friends (or newest friends) running through the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota on the George Mickelson Trail. Traveling through the scenic Black Hills in a van with 4 other people, running on one of the most scenic trails around and developing memories and stories that you will share for a life-time. Then we have no doubt that this will be an experience you’ll never forget. Please go to www.leanhorse100.com to learn more.
