START & TIME LIMIT:
40 Mile, 6 AM start; 14-hour time limit. Marathon, 7 AM start; 13-hour time limit. Turnaround (halfway point) cutoffs of 6.5 hours for the 40 Mile participants and 6 hours for the Marathon entrants, along with aid station cutoffs on the inbound leg of both races.
Starting/Finishing at Celebration Hall in Ottawa, Kansas, and following the Prairie Spirit Trail two miles north before intersecting with the Flint Hills Trail, this (out & back) course will take you outbound southeasterly to the quaint little towns of Rantoul for the Marathon and the western edge of Osawatomie for the 40 Miler, and then back to Celebration Hall in Ottawa. Crew and/or drop bag access at both of the events turnaround points in Rantoul and Osawatomie. Come join us for a late spring/early summer "jaunt through the woods" on crushed limestone, along the far eastern section of the gorgeous 120 Mile Flint Hills Trail. The trail will be in "full bloom" come late May and the trees will be providing a spectacular shaded canopy over many portions (on this particular section) of this very scenic "rails-to-trails" trail in mid-eastern Kansas.
7 manned aid stations in the 40 Mile, 5 manned aid stations in the Marathon. All fully-stocked with ice, water, electrolyte drink, soda-pop & sweet 'n salty snack-type foods, including sandwiches, Approximate distance between aid stations is 5 miles, with the exception of a 7 mile stretch for the 40 Milers between Rantoul and Osawatomie where an unmanned water stop will be utilized to make this close to 5 miles between water access, as well.
CHECK-IN (Staging Area):
Race headquarters is at Celebration Hall, located at 220 W. 17th Street in Ottawa, KS. Packet pick-up and drop-bag (drop-off) will be held from 4-8 PM on Friday evening May 29th.
The pre-race meal will be served from 5-6:30 PM on Friday evening immediately followed by a RD briefing and short Q & A session at 6:30 PM.
Late packet pick-up Saturday morning, May 29th from 5-5:30 AM for the 40 mile entrants and 5:30-6:30 AM for the Marathon entrants.

Boxed post-race meal consisting of choice of ham or turkey on a wheat hoagie roll, with lettuce, tomato & cheese. Choice of baked beans or cole-slaw, served with chips, pickle and fruit cup, along with lemonade and pop. A hearty bean soup will be available for those wanting a vegetarian option. Post-race meal is included in the entry fee for the registered runner. Additional post-race meals can be purchased for $10 per guest.

There are several different hotels to choose from in Ottawa, KS, with none of them being any further than 10-15 minutes maximum from Celebration Hall (staging location), most only a few minutes away. Included in the entry fee, all entrants will be served one pre-race pasta, meatballs & salad meal on Friday evening (sauce kept separate from meatballs for the vegetarians) and one post-race boxed meal on Saturday afternoon through the end of the race(s) late Saturday evening. Extra guests are $10 per meal and need to be paid for in advance at checkout as we will be prepping enough food based on PRE-PAID head count.
