Registration Opens Thu. Apr 30, 2015 @ 7:00 AM

Hi, everyone!

We're sorry to announce that we're postponing the opening of Oregon Coast 50k/30k registration until Thursday, April 30th. We've been working with local land managers since the end of last year's races to secure the needed permits for the 2015 races, and while we have approved permits from all of those agencies but one, we just this morning (April 8th) were alerted for the first time that there may be some issues with the last permit. As a result, we are not moving forward with the opening of registration until we are able to work out solutions to these potential issues.

We like to open our race registrations as early as we can so folks can make their travel plans and race schedules in advance, but we also always want to make sure that we don't take anyone's money or have anyone make travel reservations until we are certain the race permits will be 100% approved. We're optimistic that this final permit will be approved and that the race will go on as planned, but for now we're delaying registration just to be safe.

If we need to again delay registration past the end of April, we'll let you know; if for any reason the race is ultimately not approved, and we can't hold the Oregon Coast races we did last year in 2015, we will of course let you know that, too. For now, we remain optimistic, and are hopeful registration will open via UltraSignup as planned on Thursday, April 30th at 7:00 AM PDT.

Sorry for the inconvenience, and hope to see you all at the race this fall! - James, Kerri, & Matt

These races are something special. Both start and finish along the Central Oregon Coast, with both the 50k & 30k races finishing in Yachats, Oregon at The Adobe Resort. In 2015, the 50K IS ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10th, & the 30K IS ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11th. The 50k course starts by running 6 miles on the beach from Waldport to Yachats; from there both races run on trails (and a little bit of paved road) to Cape Perpetua. Both races do a loop (the 50k loop is about 9 miles and the 30k loop is about 6 miles) in Cape Perpetua before heading back to a seaside finish at The Adobe Resort (which will be Rainshadow central for the weekend) in Yachats.

From the beach to the bluffs to ridges high above to waves crashing into rocks just feet away, this race is never far from the ocean and always incredibly scenic. Starting on a wide, flat beach just south of Waldport, Oregon, you'll run to the small seaside town of Yachats [pronounced "Ya-hots!"] and past it to Cape Perpetua Park. After running a big loop at Cape Perpetua, you'll head back to an ocean-side finish at a hotel lawn in Yachats. Most of the miles are on fun, soft singletrack, that winds its way along the course, and there's also a bit of sandy but firm beach running [six miles at the start], a tiny bit of pavement, and some packed gravel trail to round out the course. You'll run flat sections, steep sections, big hills, little hills, through deep old forest, and right next to crashing surf. You'll have views up high, and views right on the beach. This race really does have something for everyone! And our epic post-race party, featuring live music, wood-fired pizza, local brews, and seaside views will be waiting for you at the finish-line, of course!

Post-race, we'll hang out at the finish line, lying in the sun-warmed grass with the ocean waves crashing into the rocks right in front of us, drinking tasty beverages, eating tasty, hot food, and listening to live music from The Pine Hearts. Why Run Anywhere Else?

See ya'll on the coast in October!
