The Traprock course is a loop course of approximately 10.5-11 miles per loop. There will be two races (one (17k) and three loops (50k)). It is a rolling course with 50% technical single track on the Metacomet Trail. The balance of the course is double-track.
Consisting entirely of rolling forest roads or single track that can be extremely rocky, the course will provide a true test of the runner’s fitness and mental stamina. You should only consider entering this race if you are confident you have sufficient running experience such as having completed a recent road or trail marathon. If you have any questions or concerns about your ability to complete this race but would still like to enter, please contact the race director.
Qualifiers / Series Participation
Traprock is proud to be a UTMB qualifier, and the first race of the 2019 CT Blue-Blazed Trail Running Series.
Finishers will receive 2 ITRA points, that can go towards qualifying for any race that uses the ITRA point system - including UTMB, CCC, and TDS - more info here: https://utmbmontblanc.com/en/page/17/qualifying-races.html
The Blue-Blazed Trail Running Series is a sequence of races in Connecticut that are run entirely or in part on the Blue-Blazed Hiking Trails (BBHT). The BBHT are maintained by the Connecticut Forest & Park Association (CFPA). More on the series can be found here: https://www.ctwoodlands.org/run-for-the-woods/blue-blazed-trail-running-series
Race tech shirts are available as a buy up option. We want to try to reduce waste, and keep costs low - and we've seen way too many local shirts at the thrift shop to think everyone needs or wants one. Shirts need to be ordered by 3/8 to ensure delivery by race day.
To help reduce waste and costs, we are a cupless race. Please plan to bring your own cup or handheld bottle to use throughout the day. We will not even have them for soda. No cups. At all.
The race will be chip timed, no more clipboards for us! If you drop from the race early, please let a volunteer know so we don't go searching for you in the woods.
Race proceeds will go to a variety of local organizations, including the Simsbury Land Trust and the Connecticut Forest & Parks Association. They will also go to the CT Trailmixers Shoe Scholarship Program, which gives free shoes to kids in need who want to run cross-country or track in school.
