The Yin of the Beaver

Oconee Church Road

Dublin, GA 12hrs, 6hrs

This Event Took Place Sat. Aug 6, 2016

The Yin

Welcome to the second running of the Yin of the Beaver. This is the second race in a two race series (to be known hereafter as the Beaverdam Distance Series) - The Yang of the Beaver being the first - but runners are welcome to compete in either event as a standalone as well. If you choose to run both the Yin and the Yang we are offering a price reduction on the Yin - $5 if you sign up by January 1st, $10 thereafter.

The Yin, is dark, and so, the Yin of the Beaver is run during one of the hottest times of the year in Middle-Georgia - August. The run will start with the sun still in the sky and will end with the sun over the horizon. Runners will enjoy some of the cool of the night, as well as the humidity and nocturnal animals, namely armadillos and perhaps a wayward beaver.

New this year, we will be giving all registrants a personal discount code to hand out to friends. The discount is not much, .05, however, the code that is used the most gets the owner their registration fee back on race day. (You must be present to collect your refund.)

The Relay

New this year is a 12hr relay option. Runners will be able to create a three-person relay team. Each runner will run for one hour at a time, (one hour on, two hours off, should give your legs plenty of time to rest up well...). Each runner will run for a total of four hours. "Hand off" windows will open and close ten minutes on either side of the hour. This is a 2.65 course, do the maths.

The 26.5

We could have done a marathon, but that would require some weird measuring I just couldn't wrap my head around, (read: I'm lazy). However, we are pretty good with simple multiplication by 10, and figured that 10 2.65m loops gets close enough to a marathon distance. Since the course will be open for 12 hours, 26.5'ers will have the full 12 hours to get those 10 laps in.

The Course

The same course will be utilized for the Yin and the Yang. It is a 2.65m figure-8 loop that consists mostly of carriage trails/woods roads and some sandy dirt road. The upper loop is about 1.466 while the lower loop is 1.186. Runners will be given the option of running the shorter loop in the final half hour of the event. The loop is rather flat with a couple of long, gradual bumps (not quite hills).

The Yang

The Yang is the first event of the Beaver Distance Series. It will be run on Saturday March 11th. The race will begin at 7:30am and culminate at 7:30pm. See you there!

Event's current local time: 6:44 AM ET
