SVRG Vendetta Run

Remember Remember the 5th of November.... What are YOU doing on the 5th of November? You should be racing and supporting your favorite roller derby league! Join us, and if you happen to love the movie V for Vendetta, then this is especially for you.

Silicon Valley Roller Girls are a flat track roller derby league located in south San Jose. We practice at the Sportsplex in south San Jose, where the race start/finish will be located. We are a non profit organization looking to expand our world of strong athletic friends into the running world. We'd love for you to come out and support us and have some fun doing it. Bring your Vendetta costumes if you got 'em! The race course will be along the Coyote Creek Trail, heading south, out and back so the start/finish will be at the Plex.

A sample picture of the tshirt will be posted soon. They will be unisex, but fit small.

About Silicon Valley Roller Girls

Community Service and SVRG
At SVRG, we consider ourselves a family, and that includes the surrounding Silicon Valley area. Every year SVRG partners with local nonprofits to help make our home better place. Our skaters aren't afraid to put a little elbow grease into it, either! We've pulled weeds at a VeggieLution community farm, served Thanksgiving dinners to homeless families, built bikes at Good Karma Bikes, and helped pack school supplies for needy children, just to name a few.

SVRG League Structure
Silicon Valley Roller Girls is a non-profit organization and is governed by a five-member, volunteer board of directors. League members manage all aspects of bout production, sponsorship and merchandising, ensuring that all revenues are reinvested into the league and pay for the many expenses, including insurance, promotion, security, space rental and travel.

The Dot.Kamikazes are Silicon Valley's WFTDA charter and primary travel team. You'll find them competing at the very top levels of roller derby at bouts and tournaments all along the West Coast. In 2012, the Dot.Kamikazes reached the 11th place ranking in the hyper competitive West region.

The Killabytes are the second team, sometimes called the 'B' squad. The Killabytes play fewer bouts on the road and often include newer skaters, but play with a scrappy intensity that makes for thrilling bouts.

The league’s C team, Hard Drivers, provide extra scrimmages and skate events allowing all levels of SVRG skaters to participate.

New skaters start out in one of SVRG's bootcamps, where they learn skating skills, the rules of derby, and more until they are able to pass the WFTDA minimum skills test and join the main league.

Non-Profit Status
SVRG is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is skater-owned and is governed by a five-member volunteer Board of Directors. In accordance with many WFTDA leagues, our league is structured to operate democratically; whereas anything that directly affects skater’s time and expenses are placed on a league vote. SVRG is comprised of committees with elected Heads of each committee which are overseen by the President, Vice-President, General Manager, Secretary and Treasurer. League members manage all aspects of bout production, sponsorship and merchandising, ensuring that all revenues are reinvested into the league and pay for the many expenses, including insurance, promotion, security, space rental and travel.
