The Jemez Mountains Trail Runs takes place in and around Los Alamos in the scenic Jemez Mountains of Northern New Mexico. Three distances are offered: 50 mile, 50 kilometer, and a half marathon. The registration fees are $85 for the 50 mile, $70 for the 50 kilometer, and $50 for the half marathon. Race registration includes a free pre-race pasta dinner, a tech t-shirt, numerous aid stations on the course and a post race party at the finish line. The top age group finishers in the half marathon and all finishers in the 50 mile and 50 kilometer races will be awarded hand made Jemez Pueblo pottery.
Registration for the 50 mile and 50 kilometer runs opens December 1, 2014. Registration for the Half Marathon opens February 1, 2015.
The Jemez Mountains Trail Runs has gained a reputation as a very difficult course. The course is on technical trails with a substantial amount of elevation change. The 50k and 50 mile events include extremely steep climbs and descents on very technical terrain. On the course, runners will experience high altitude (from 7,000 to over 10,000 feet above sea level), fallen trees, and other obstacles. The 2015 50k and 50 mile courses will likely be similar to the 2014 course (but they could be very different). In past years, runners have experienced wether extremes including heat, cold, rain, snow, lightening and wind. Runners are encouraged to consider their comfort level on this type of terrain and weather before registering.
Refund and Waitlist Policy
We will maintain a wait list and allow for partial refunds to runners that register but cannot participate on race day. We offer a 50% refund only before May 1, 2015 and only if your spot can be filled. After May 1, 2015 all entry fees are nonrefundable. No refunds are granted if there is no one on the wait list to take your spot. No transfer of entry to another person and no transfer of entry to another year are permitted. We will maintain a separate wait list for each race through the Ultra Signup site. If this refund policy bums you out, remember we are a non-profit race and all race proceeds benefit local organizations or charities.
