New River Trail 50k is a USATF measured and certified 50km
course and marathon course (VA12047RT and VA12048RT.) Only a 50km distance is offered. This means all runners will receive both a 50km
time and a certified marathon split time! (Time can be used as a Boston Qualifier, etc...)
The New River Trail 50k is a 100% dirt, flat and entirely along the New River and Chestnut Creek in the New River Trail State Park. This is a "green" race we will use local, recyclable items and products from companies with "green" practices as much as possible. 8 am start time and a 7 hour-cutoff. Proceeds go to National Committee for the New River. Homemade lunch for all runners. Nathan Quickdraw Plus. Patagonia Long Sleeve shirt option 'til 9/8.

Aid stations at mile points 5.33/6.15, 11.82, 15.94, 20.06, 25.73. See course map for more detail. Each aid station will be stocked with, at a minimum, electrolyte drink, water, assorted sodas, PB&J squares, fig bars, salty snacks, candy, and fruit. Runners are encouraged to carry at least 1 water bottle as a very limited supply of disposable cups will be available.
Runners may leave a drop bag at the Start/Finish area race morning by 7:15 AM. Bags will be delivered to the Cliffview turnaround. Please clearly mark bags w/name, bib #. Waterproof the bag if necessary. Bags will be returned to the finish area by 2 PM. Forgotten or abandoned drop bags can not be mailed. Items left after 4:30 pm will be either recycled, donated or disposed of...Please leave a note on the dashboard of your vehicle to help you remember
This will occur at the Start/Finish area from 6-8 PM Friday night and 6:30-7:45am, race morning. Sunrise will be 7:26am and sunset the night before will be 6:48pm. Runners should consider bringing headlamps or flashlights to pick-up numbers. Parking is across a grassy field with limited lighting.
There will be no refunds or rollover of entry fees. 100% of the proceeds go to National Committee for the New River.
