Sure to be an instant classic, this lollipop style course that involves ~4500 ft of elevation gain has amazing views of the Cascade mountains, the sheer rock faces at Smith Rock State Park and the unique beauty of the grasslands. 75% of the course is on sweet single-track trails. The 15-mile race quickly rises above the dramatic cliffs in one of Oregon’s most scenic state parks. With over 3,000 vertical gain, the route ascends to the top of Gray Butte with panoramic views of central Oregon and the Three Sisters. Then your reward, an almost uninterrupted descent with spectacular views of the sheer rock faces that make Smith Rock State Park a mecca for climbers. With incredible views, sweet single-track and 830 ft. of gain, this course gives runners a close-up view of Monkey Face, Misery Ridge and beautiful vistas of all sides of the park.
