OPSF 50|50 is a long standing Indiana tradition. This low key event in Owen-Putnam State Forest is the non-profit Indiana Trail Running Association's (ITRA) main fund raising event, and it's an opportunity for people to run a lesser known Indiana course (even though it's only an hour from Indianapolis!). Come join us!
The OPSF 50|50 race is a 50 mile or 50k distance race beginning at 7:00 a.m. and a 14 mile Run beginning at 8:00 a.m.
PLEASE NOTE: This race is a CUPLESS race. This means you must have the ability to carry 20 oz of water on your person at all times. No cups will be provided at aid stations.
Set in Owen-Putnam State Forest and beginning at Horse Campground, runners traverse a 14 mile course consisting of 90% single track with a few sections of fire road.
The course is a lollipop: Start/Finish to Aid A is the "stick" and a loop from Aid A through Aid B and back to Aid A is the delicious "pop". Aid A to the Start/Finish completes the lollipop.
The 50 mile and 50k runners will run out the lollipop counter clockwise, do two "pops", and then return to the Start/Finish. 50k runners will then do a counter clockwise lollipop with a truncated "pop," while the 50 mile runners will do two more complete counter clockwise lollipops.
14 mile runners do one counter clockwise lollipop. Yum!
Trails are rugged and there will be mud! It's the toughest trail race in Indiana!
