Course Description

For both races you have views of the Canyon, waterfalls and two states!!! These views will blow your mind and you will forget you are running.

The 50 miler:
46 miles of trail 4 miles of paved road within the park. We can not reiterate how BEAUTIFUL THIS COURSE IS!!! 12,000 ft of elevation change for the 50 miler.

The 50 miler will start in the dark. You MUST have a head lamp until day breaks this is approx 2-2.5 hrs in the dark. This means you get to see the BEAUTIFUL SUNRISE!

You will run 1 mile on the road to the trail head to thin runners out. You will then jump onto the Backcountry Trail counter clockwise and take this to the Cloudland Connector Trail (CCT). You will use the CCT and other sinlge track trails for the next 35 miles. To many trails to mention, well over 10. This includes tons of trails with in the 5 Points Trail system. These trails are flat to rolling hills with some short climbs. Nothing over 300 ft at once. These trails are not technical by trail standards but there are some rocks and roots. You will come back to the Backcountry Trail. At this point you will continue around the trail going counter clockwise. You will come back to the start and then head out on the last 11 miles of the course will be the hardest/most scenic.

You will run the following trails the last 12 miles: West Rim Trail, Waterfalls Trail, Sitton's Gulch Trail, oh and a fun powerline cut.

So bring your cameras and be ready for a race like no other. Running in and around the canyon will make you forget you're in Georgia.

The West Rim Trail is EXTREMELY rocky and technical. Sittons Gulch Trail is a beautiful path that follows a creek. When you run this you will feel like you are in the Pacific Northwest.

12 miler:
8 miles of trail 3 miles of road within the park. 2,100 ft of gain and 2,100 ft of loss for entire course. You will run the West Rim Trail, Waterfalls Trail, Sitton's Gulch Trail, oh and a fun powerline cut. So bring your cameras and be ready for a race like no other. Running in and around the canyon will make you forget you're in Georgia. Read above description of last 12 miles.
