THE INAUGURAL HONEY BADGER 100 MILE ULTRA ROAD RACE

"In the spirit of the toughest animal on earth, the Honey Badger, AND one of the toughest foot races, Badwater, Epic Ultras proudly introduces our "graduate level" Honey Badger 100 Mile Ultra Road Race!"

PLEASE NOTE: All entrants must supply their own crew (minimum 1 person), vehicle, and food for the entirety of this event (no exceptions), along with a minimum of one 5-gallon water cooler, one 7-gallon water carrier and a medium-large sized ice chest. There are no aid stations on the course. Read below for complete details.

NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION, REFUNDS, DEFERRALS OR CARRYOVERS TO FUTURE EVENTS (Please DO NOT contact us and ask us to make an exception to this rule, as we will not respond to any requests of this nature).

START & TIME LIMIT:

6 AM start; 36-hour time limit.
Competitors will be required to adhere to a 16 hour cutoff at approximately 50 miles.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The course is a 92.9 mile (approx.) asphalt loop contained entirely within Kingman County, Kansas, with a 5.75 mile out and back in Cheney State Park (West Shore) at the start, and a little over a 1.5 miles exiting and re-entering the park. The entire 92.9 mile point-to-point loop is on asphalt county roads with very little road cant, NO major highways and minimal vehicular traffic. All runners MUST provide their own crew (minimum 1 person) & vehicle for the entirety of this event...no exceptions. There are NO aid stations on the course. Pacers are allowed and encouraged for the last 47 miles of this event. Click the link below to open a map of the course. AID/CREW SUPPORT:

All runners MUST provide their own crew (minimum 1 person) and vehicle, along with all food, and a minimum of one 5-gallon water cooler, one 7-gallon water carrier and a medium-large ice chest. If more than one crew member is assisting, an extra 5-gallon water cooler and large ice chest is highly encouraged. Epic Ultras will provide a roving support wagon or two (depending upon number of participants) that will re-supply ice & water only to all of the crew vehicles/competitors throughout the event. There are NO aid stations on the course.

CHECK-IN (Staging Area):

Check in and staging area (start/finish) is at the West Shore Area of Cheney State Park, KS. Packet pickup will be on Friday evening, July 11th, from 4-8 p.m, along with cooked to order burgers, veggie burgers, brats, chicken breasts and sides. Late packet pickup will be Saturday morning, July 12th, from 5-5:30 a.m. immediately followed by a short pre-race briefing and the start of the race. Following is a link to Google Maps showing the exact location of the staging area, along with a link to the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism that provides complete details on the area, along with being able to reserve a cabin (if available) or campsite (primitive & full-hookups).  If not staying in the park overnight, a day use fee ($5 per vehicle) will be required.


PRE & POST-RACE FOOD:

Pre & post race food will consist of deli meats & cheese for sandwiches, grilled burgers, veggie burgers, brats, & chicken breasts, along with chips, potato salad, cole slaw, watermelon and cookies. Ice cold lemonade, water & pop. One guest/crew member is included in the entry fee. Additional guests are $10 per person.

First overall male and female personalized awards AND custom, date specific, buckles guaranteed to ALL FINISHERS.

LODGING:

Plenty of campsites (without hookups) surround the start/finish area (Giefer Creek Day Use Area), along with plenty of full-hookup campsites about one mile away.  There are also several cabins for rent (if available), along with full restroom and shower facilities in the park, as well.  Click on the link below to access the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks & Tourism website for Cheney State Park (West Shore Area) for complete details and to make a reservation.  If reserving a campsite without hookups, the Giefer Hill and Harding Hill Campgrounds are right beside the start/finish line.


Closest hotel/motel lodging options are in Goddard or Kingman, both about 20 miles away from the start/finish, or plenty of lodging options in Wichita, a little over 30 miles away.
