Sterling Squatch Half Marathon

1 Tornado Drive

Tuxedo Park, NY Half Marathon

This Event Took Place Sat. Jun 10, 2023

Sassquad Trail Running and the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference are proud to present the Sterling SquaTCh Half Marathon (the capitalized "TC" in SquaTCh stands for "Trail Conference"!!) Join us on Saturday June 8, 2024 at 9am for this trail half marathon. You'll enjoy gorgeous rolling singletracks through rhododendrons, pass by beautiful lakes, meadows and a waterfall. This event is hiker-friendly, family-friendly, newbie-friendly; come one, come all! Our Trail Parties are always open to all peoples, ages and paces. Please visit our website for the complete details on this race, course maps, gpx files etc!

The trailhead for this event cannot support parking for our race, so we have off-site parking with shuttles for pick-up/drop-off. You'll notice that the registration fee for this event is a bit inconsistent with our usual Trail Party rates. This is due to the additional costs of off-site parking and shuttles.

ALL RUNNERS/HIKERS must park at the Tuxedo High School. We have 2 buses that will start shuttling you at 7:15am; the final shuttle will leave the High School at 8:15AM. You are welcome to get dropped off at the race start, but you will not be able to leave your car at the trailhead. The buses will begin shuttling runners/hikers back to the High School at 11:30am. The final bus will depart the race at 2:15pm

Use this address for Tuxedo High School: 1 Tornado Drive, Tuxedo, NY
Use this address for the race start ONLY if you are being dropped off: Laurel Meadow Pond Trailhead, Tuxedo, NY

The trail party will start and finish at the Laurel Meadows Pond Parking Area at Sterling Forest State Park in Tuxedo Park, NY. Please read the note above about parking. The half marathon kicks-off at 9am. The course closes at 2pm, giving each runner/hiker 5 hours to finish which makes this event hiker-friendly. Check-in will be open from 8:15am-8:45am where you will receive your handcrafted wood medal (made with squatchy love in the Squatch Shop), race swag and bib. Runners and hikers will take home a swag item of their choice, we will have buffs, hats, travel mugs, bags, beach towels and more available (swag varies every race). Please note: As with all of our events, Squatchers over the age of 60 and AWD (athletes with disabilities) can have a pacer/guide at any time. Please use this form to pre-register your pacers. Pacers are not allowed for other runners and hikers without prior approval from the Trail Party Director. Members of the Trail Conference will be at the race to chat with you about the amazing work they are doing in New York and New Jersey. Please visit our website for the complete details on this race, course maps, gpx files etc!

The Sterling SquaTCh takes you through 13 miles of unique trails at Sterling Forest State Park. This half marathon course has a fun mix of rolling singletracks, woods roads and highlights the trail beautiful of this state park. There is 1,900 feet of elevation gain over the 13.1 miles. This is not a flat course, but it is no where near as challenging as our two Big Bear SquaTCh Trail Parties at Harriman State Park. You'll be well-supported at this Trail Party with two on-course aid stations that will be well stocked with snacks, water and Skratch Hydration. Please visit our website for the complete details on this race, course maps, gpx files etc!

Like many other race organizations, we do not offer refunds for our events. Please take the time to double check your calendar before registering for a Trail Party. Please understand that we do not offer refunds under any circumstances. If you notify us via email (not through social media, text or phone call) more than 45 days from the date of the Trail Party, we will extend a deferral to any of our events that fall within one calendar year of the Trail Party that you were registered for. If you sustain an injury less than 45 days from the race date, we will extend a deferral if you come to that race to volunteer for at least 4 hours. If the race that you want to drop from is sold-out with an active wait-list and if you notify us via email (not through social media, text or phone call) at least 3 days before the race, we will extend a deferral to any of our events that fall within one calendar year of the Trail Party that you were registered for. The race credit is the amount that you paid for the race (not including UltraSignUp fees) so you will need to cover any difference in fees; refunds will not be issued if the deferred event costs less than your race credit. You can only defer one time so please doublecheck that you can make the race you're deferring to.
