Coming In May, 2023
TriAdventure’s Lake Ridge Endurance Run will be held in May instead of September in 2023. We are hoping with this spring date and price change, more people can join us.
The event will now be held the weekend of May 13th and 14th and will be held in a Fat Ass Format (Informal “race,” devoid of accoutrements like port-a-potties and finishers’ swag, the aim is to emphasize fun and community).
Need to train for a summer race? Want to bring the family, run with friends, camp under the stars? Need some night running with support?
When signing up, we encourage you to make a small donation (~$20) so that we can offset our costs for insurance, course markings, etc. Additional money will go towards aid station fare…burgers, quesadillas, soups, and other hot items that might be hard for you to provide. Anything extra will go to the Claytor Lake friends organization as a thank you for letting us spend time on their property.
What we will provide for you: Lots of fun, a nice, well marked 4-mile course for day and night running, free camping, light aid station fare, animal sightings, shenanigans, lots of our support and encouragement to knock out more laps, and more.
We will also provide timing for your own information, but timing equipment will not be monitored. Should a glitch of some kind occur, we do not have a backup system in place.
What you will have to provide: Any running aid you might need, $7 for parking at Claytor Lake, friends and family to share miles with in the woods.
This year, we will be in a new location in the park, but the course will stay the same as previous years. We will be near Shelter 3, (at the Visitor Center/Gazebo area) instead of the beach access area. There will be no showers available, but the bathrooms are nearby, and the lake is right there throughout the whole run!
For any runner that gets over 100miles, we will have a belt buckle.
We look forward to seeing you out there with your friends and families!
The Event
The Lake Ridge Endurance Run is a timed event with 3 events: a 24, 12, and 6 hour event for you to choose from.
The course is a 4 mile loop on the trails of Claytor Lake State Park. 3 of the 4 miles have lake views. One mile of the course is on a paved bike path while the rest is on true single-track.
Depending on the timed-event you’re running, it will depend on what time you start. All 24 hour runners will start at 9:00am on Saturday. 12 & 6 hour runners can start at 9:00am, 3:00pm, or 9:00pm.
New for 2023
This year we have added in a Kids Fun run. Kids will have the option to do the 4 mile loop with the runners, take a shorter one mile loop or stay in the nearby to run a loop around the visitor center. Everyone and anyone is welcome.
Stick around afterwards for a medal and games in the grass afterwards. Plus help us cheer and encourage the runners running 6, 12, and 24 hours.
Lake Ridge is Cupless
In an effort to be more sustainable and be friendly towards the environment, the Lake Ridge Endurance races are cupless. All runners will need to carry their own reusable cup/bottles throughout the race to use at aid stations.
