Rad Epic

Multi-Round Competition Series

Lexington, KY Large - 50M, Medium - 50K, Small - 25K

This Event Took Place Sun. Dec 31, 2023

Three Races, One Champion!

Rad Epic is an awesome year-long, multi-round competition consisting of some of the best races organized by Rad Ultras!

For 2023, Rad Epic will consist of three Competition Categories and three Competition Rounds! This results in a total of nine individual races, three for each category, including races held in such places as Red River Gorge, the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail, and the Grand Canyon of the South - Breaks Interstate Park!

Competitors will select, register, and compete in a single Competition Category. Competitors will be scored and ranked by total accumulated time for all three rounds in the selected category. The faster you run each race in the series, the lower your total time and the higher you will finish in the rankings!

Rad Epic will result in the crowning of a new overall Champion for each division of every Competition Category in the series! All registrations include an awesome custom shirt, swag, and special offers from our partners!

Please Note - Registering for Rad Epic is for participation in the Competition Series only, it does not include registration for every event in the series. Competitors must still register for each event individually.

Competition Categories, Divisions, and Races

The 2023 Rad Epic will consist of three Competition Categories – Short, Medium, and Long. Divisions will include both Female and Male.

The Short category starts on August 26 and will include the following races:

Hot Hot Hundred Trail Fest – 30K
• Cave Run Lake Trail Races – 22M
• Red River Gorge Ultra – 25K

The Medium category starts on June 10 and will include the following races:

War Hammer Endurance Run – 50K
• Cave Run Lake Trail Races – 32M
• Red River Gorge Ultra – 50K

The Large category starts on April 22 and will include the following races:

Big Turtle Trail Runs – 50M
War Hammer Endurance Run – 50M
• Breaks Ultramarathon – 45M

Scoring and Ranking

Competitors will be scored and ranked based on cumulative time after each Competition Round. For example, if a Competitor in the Medium Competition Category finishes each race of the three races in a time of 5:00:00, their cumulative time will be 15:00:00 for Rad Epic.

Competitors will be ranked from shortest to longest total cumulative time after each round and after competition of all three Competition Rounds.

Competitors who are registered for, but do not start, a Competition Round will be assigned the time equal to the maximum final cutoff time for the race. These Competitors will still be scored in the series and will remain eligible for all Rad Epic entitlements.

Competitors who are registered for Rad Epic but do not register for a Competition Round race will be removed from official scoring and ranking.

Updated scoring and rankings will be posted after each Competition Round in the series. The Champion of each Competition Category will be crowned at the final round of the category.

Registration and Priority Registration

Competitors must register for Rad Epic prior to the first round of each Competition Category. Once registration for the first round of a category closes, the Competition Category will be closed to new registrations. Be sure to check the registration closing date for each category. Registration is for Rad Epic only and does not include registration for each individual Competition Round. All Competitors will still be eligible for all entitlements for each individual race.

Competitors registered for Rad Epic will receive Priority Registration for all category races to ensure entry. Athletes failing to register during the priority window will be subject to capacity limits, waitlists, and registration closing dates for each individual race, such as tee shirts, swag, awards, prizes, etc.

Awards, Trophies, and Prizes

All Rad Epic finishers will receive a custom finisher medal! The top three finishers in both the female and male divisions for each race category will receive a unique handmade trophy and prizes from our partners! In additional to bragging rights, all first-place finishers will receive free entry to defend their title in the next Rad Epic!

Prize money may be announced at a future date.
