Changing to a Fun Run

The goal of Sweatfest Dirt 66 Trail Run is to raise money for TrailSpring and to have a fun OMRR trail race.

This year, the signup numbers are very low. We tried to pick a date without conflict, which is about impossible in the summer. With the expense of having a timed run, with awards and swag, the race will undoubtedly be a loss.

We have decided to make Sweatfest a free race, with no timing, awards, or swag. We will still recognize the winners of each race, but the glory of winning will be your reward.

Runners will have the option to donate to Trailspring, and it is totally optional. For those who have already signed up and paid, you can have a refund or have your payment donated to Trailspring.

Since our summer weekends are already so full, we will have our OMRR Annual Picnic after the race at 12:30.

Lunch will be provided for members of OMRR and their immediate family.

Non-members can eat for $10, or they can join OMRR for $20.

If you have another race that morning, we hope you will still come to join us at the Annual Picnic.

We will have games for the kids and door prizes, and we will have newly designed OMRR shirts available for purchase.

Don’t forget, Sweatfest is the kickoff Bass Pro training run for Dogwood!

TrailSpring DIRT 66, another natural surface, multi-use trail system connecting six green zones in north Springfield, is our newest and biggest project to date. Designed for hiking and running, but optimized for mountain biking, Dirt 66 is named after Route 66 and is just as historic; it’ll incorporate greenway and on-road connections to each zone, providing safe passage and alternative transportation for commuting, while connecting 66 miles of trail between many of Springfield’s parks. Work is already underway, and with the financial support of our corporate donors and generous individuals like you, Dirt 66 will soon be an exciting reality.

Course Information

The Sweatfest Dirt 66 Trail Run presents 25K 15K and 5K options. Enjoy beautiful views on an out-and-back course along the Fellow's Lake Marina Trail System! This section of trail was just added in March of 2021 to help improve the surrounding area. Soon the trail will consist of over 30 miles of trail around the lake. This course is great for beginners and experienced runners alike!
NO DOGS OR STROLLERS ARE ALLOWED ON THE COURSE!

There will be ample parking in the green space. Parking marshals will direct you where to park.

Inclement Weather

We hold our race in rain, snow, sleet, hail, and sunshine. We will delay due to lightning in the area, but we have rarely canceled a race due to weather.

Start/Finish Line

West Trailhead Entrance Near Dam, Gate 1. All races begin together at 7:30 am

Port-A-Potties

There will be port-a-potties at the start/finish and along the route, slightly off the course.
