50K Out and Back Course
50K runners start from Samuel P Taylor park, runs into white hill OSP and eventually ends at Lucas Valley OSP near big rock and returns same way back.
25Km has following 2 sections
a) Samuel P Taylor Park to White Hill OSP
This segment starts in the valley on the old railroad trail then climbs to San Geronimo Ridge. The ridge fire road is long and undulating, with rewarding 360-degree views of the North Bay, and deep canyons and wooded ridges crowned by Mount Tamalpais. The route feels remote and has a dramatic view down to scenic Kent Lake. After reaching its highest elevations in a unique Sargent cypress forest, the trail descends through White Hill Open Space Preserve, offering more beautiful views.
b) White Hill to Lucas Valley OSP :
Loma Alta is a Marin County landmark and one of the county’s highest peaks. It divides the county’s four major watersheds: Miller, Corte Madera, Lagunitas, and Nicasio Creeks. This Ridge Trail section climbs and descends open grasslands with spectacular 360-degree views at the summit. It’s a steep, rocky, and exposed old ranch road, best traveled on cool mornings in summer or bright sunny days in winter.
Cutoffs: 4Hours 15mins at 25K Turnaround mark, 6:30hrs at mile 21 Aid station and 9 hours for overall finish.
