What is Camp Lug-A-Chug
Want to carry a bunch of water on your back, uphill? Heck yeah! Camp Lug-A-Chug has become almost as popular as the Volcanic race. This is the weekend when we hike water into the remote aid stations for the race. We’ll feed you well after each hike and we promise you’ll feel your butt muscles the next day. We play a little game too, with a free race entry as the prize, for the person who carries the most weight compared to their body weight.
There'd be no water to chug at the aid stations if these volunteers didn't lug it up the volcano. If you are looking for a way to get involved and have fun (really, it is fun), put this on your calendar. You can help out one day or make a weekend of it and haul water with us both days. We’ll gather at Marble Mountain Sno Park (lower lot) at 8:00 a.m. each morning and divy up the supplies to hike in. Bring a large backpack if you’ve got one (we have some loaners) and the snacks and water you’ll consume on the ~9 mile roundtrip hike. Trekking poles are very helpful too.
We’ll camp nearby Friday and Saturday nights and everyone is welcome to find a spot and stay for an evening of storytelling and laughs and probably a little groaning about our sore muscles.
There is no fee to participate - it's a volunteer opportunity and a fun time to hang out on the volcano with friends.
