The Outpost 8k Trail Race will host the second edition of the race on July 5th, 2025, starting at the Father Troy's Trail trailhead on Windgap Road in Flatrock, Newfoundland and Labrador. It will wind its way out to the giant boulder, what RD Tim Warren has always called "The Outpost", turning around there and following the coastal trail all the way to Torbay Beach for 8 kilometers of up, down, in, out, single track and wide open paths.
Please see the facebook page HERE for up to date information on the route, registration, and more as well as to ask any questions you may have.

*NEW FOR 2025*
With the great success, and gained experience from last years race, as well as some excellent feedback, we're pleased to offer some exciting changes to the event!
1. We will offer a waitlist this year! While no refunds or bib transfers will be allowed again this year, any runner who drops out after registration will have their spot open for the next available participant on the waitlist. As always, any funds from the dropped-out registrants will be part of our donation to the east coast trail association.
2. We've increased capacity this year to 125 runners!
3. More inclusivity to follow our dedication to being a community based and fully inclusive experience! This year we will offer 3 registration categories - Male, Female, and Non-Binary.
4. Prizing will change this year to accommodate changes to the registration categories. We're doing away with monetary/gift card prizing on a "Top-3" Overall winner model and moving to a model that will see the top 3 in each registration category awarded special medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
5. More new and exciting features to come!
Entrant Limits, Time Cut-Offs, and Courtesy
Given the trails are open to the public, we please ask you to respect other hikers as well as your fellow runners by letting them know you'd like to pass and expressing your wishes with a "on the left" or "on the right" as to not startle anyone. Trail races are on tighter and more technical terrain than road races will be so please do your best to compete with kindness and safety in mind.
To help mitigate environmental impact to the trail system, as well as an effort to make this manageable for insurance as well as the logistics, the race will be limited to 125 entrants max.
This race will have a cut-off time of 1hr45 minutes. The reasons for this are to limit environmental impact, to respect our volunteers' time, and to have the parking at both the finish and start, as well as traffic on the public streets at the finish, cleared out in a reasonable time as to not interfere with the residents of this area who are so graciously tolerating us hosting this event.
Littering and causing damage to the course in any way (trees, vegetation, trail infrastructure, etc.) will NOT be tolerated and any runner or volunteer found in violation of this request will be banned for life from any and all future events hosted by Outpost Racing as well as having their results voided from the records.
Event's current local time: 2:46 PM NT
