Sizzlin in the Florida Sun
Welcome to the 2nd Annual Sombrero Sizzler presented by Sombrero Running LLC where you will be running/walking on a 1.25 mile paved loop 3/4 asphalt road 1/4 concrete walking path with a short "grassy" area at the end, and surrounded by beautiful pine trees that nicely shade the course throughout the day for 3/6/9/ or 12 hrs. There is also a Relay Team Option for the 6 race as well for 4 person teams of any gender (limit 10 teams). This a pancake flat and FAST course on a former active military base (Cecil Field). There will be plenty of fun and heat to go around.
Race Info
Pre-race: Set up begins Saturday July 12th at 6 am with packet pick up and ALL races begin at 7:00 am with a pre-race briefing at 6:50 am. You will be able to park on the road leading into the pavilion area (no parking in the pavilion area) where you pass by each loop so easy access to your vehicle / set up area and it is directly on the course.
Course: The course has trees lining it and will be fairly shaded for the morning hours, it does have some portions that will be in the direct sunlight later in the day so prepare accordingly during the middle parts of the day. It is FLAT AND FAST with minimal turns ( 5 wide right turns )
Aid Station: There will be one main aid station at the start / finish line in the main pavilion area and will have the standard Ultra foods and will have Skratch Electrolyte for hydration. We also will be grilling food ALL DAY so when you come by you can grab and go, we will have breakfast foods as well as burgers (vegan as well) and brats, Italian sausage etc... and let's not forget BACON!!! We always try to have vegan options as well.
Awards: We will have OA top 3 in each event as well as some other special awards given out for those that inspire us and motivate us to push our limits and comfort zones. There will also be awards for the relay team divisions as well. Number of awards in the team division will depend on participation.
Swag: Each participant will receive a custom medal including each member of a team; we will also have other items to giveaway yet TBD.
