Mendon Trail Run

Stewart Lodge, Mendon Ponds Park

Mendon, NY 50K, 30K, 20K, 10K

Registration closes: Wed, Oct 30 @ 11:59PM ET

Mendon Trail Run - A Trail Run for Everyone!

Since 1994, The Rochester Orienteering Club has offered The Mendon Trail Run. The Mendon Trail Run raises funds to support the activities of the Club, which is one of the most active Orienteering Clubs in the US (to learn more, or to attend one of our events, see https://roc.us.orienteering.org/).

The trail run features distances of 10K, 20K, 30K and 50K on the east side of beautiful Mendon Ponds Park.
10 km loop course, entirely off-road, mostly doubletrack with some singletrack. The course will be marked, turns marked at trail junctions, and traffic cones at the one road crossing. The course has many rolling hills. The course for the most part is runnable (not very technical), although there is one short rocky downhill section where the footing can be somewhat tricky. There is an estimated 800-1000 feet of climb per 10k loop.

Aid station for 20k, 30k and 50k runners at midway through the loop, plus one water/Gatorade stop at the S/F of the loop.

Shirts

Long-sleeve shirts are available as an option. The price is $22.00 for small to XL, and $25 for 2XL or 3XL. Entries with requests for shirts need to be submitted by October 11. There may be a limited number available for purchase on race day.

Bib # pickup

At Medved Running & Walking Outfitters, 3400 Monroe Ave, Rochester, NY 14618, on Friday November 1 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

At the race for 50K, from 7:00 to 8:00 AM.

For all other distances, from 8:05 to 9:30 AM. If race has not filled up, day-of-meet entries will be accepted during the above time periods.

Refund policy

Refunds, minus a 20% administration fee, will be given until October 11. No refunds after October 15. Refund requests are made via UltraSignup.

Pacers

Pacers will be permitted in the 50K only, and only for the last two loops. There is no charge for pacers, but we require that you fill out a waiver. See the registration table for the waiver. There are several rules for pacers, most of which are common in ultras:

- Pacers can't carry supplies for the runner (they can't carry the runner's Camelbak if they have one, for example; they can't carry their water bottle, or food for them, etc.)

- The pacer must arrive at the aid station with the runner or after the runner, and must leave the aid station with the runner or before the runner. So the pacer can't race ahead and be filling the runner's water bottle, rounding up food items, etc., or linger after the runner has left the aid station.

- Since we won't be charging for pacers, pacers are not allowed to take supplies for himself/herself at the aid stations.

- The pacer can't run through the finish line with the runner, either at the end of the race or when finishing a lap.

Bib transfers

If you're not able to attend the meet, you can transfer your bib to another runner via UltraSignup. The deadline for bib transfers is Oct. 24.

Distance changes

UltraSignup allows participants to change their distance, up until Oct. 31. Changing to a shorter distance will not give a refund. When changing to a longer (higher priced) distance, the original order is removed and they will be given a credit to re-register at the longer distance. It is also possible to change distance on the day of the race, at registration -- let the registrar know. No distance changes allowed once the race has started.

Aid stations

Due to County Park health regulations, in some instances, food may need to be handed to you. There will be one fully stocked aid station mid-loop providing the following:

FOOD: small cups of: M&Ms, gummi bears, pretzels, pringles, dill pickle slices, fig newtons

****please point to what you would like and a volunteer will take the cup and drop the contents in your hand (health rules may change without notice on this site)

LIQUIDS: water, gatorade, flat coke and ginger ale, pickle juice

****please consider bringing a collapsible cup and/or water bottle for liquids.

An aid station with water and Gatorade only will be at the beginning of each loop. Plan to bring any other favorite foods in your drop bag.
