10 mile course

The course is a loop. Is this an easy trail? NO! Is this an easier trail than running in the mountains? YES! The loop is a little over 10 miles. Seven miles of the loop will be single track mountain bike trail, 2 miles paved and a bit of doubletrack. Course is technical and scenic. The elevation is about 700 ft per loop, rolling with with switchbacks. There will be 3 aid stations- 3.5 miles, 4.8 miles and 8.5 miles.
There are 2 options for the 10 mile- a hike and a run. The competitive run will be on Saturday and the non competitive hike is on Sunday. There is no time limit for either race. You CAN run in the non competitive races, you are not required to walk.

8k course

The 8k course includes the first 4-ish miles of the 10 mile course. Primarily single track trails, finishing with 1 mile of double track. Narrow trails include roots and inclines- challenging and fun! There will be one aid station at 3.5 miles.
There is a hike and a run option for the 8k. The competitive 8k is on Sunday and the noncompetitive hike is on Saturday. There are no time limits on either race. You CAN run in the non competitive races, you are not required to walk.

More info!

As we get closer to race day, more details about the talks will be updated on happycatevents.com and this page. If you participate in a race on Saturday or Sunday, you are welcome to come for the talks and classes on the day you did not race, just bring your number!
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Williamsburg House of Mercy and the Colonial Road Runners Scholarship fund (for a female athlete). Donations will also be accepted to the House of Mercy for female and Mom oriented items (baby care items, feminine hygiene, etc)

Entry fees include 1 race, a cool T-shirt, 1 lunch and all educational talks and exercise classes (both days). All finishers (hike or run) will receive a medal. More items will be available to purchase at checkout (including additional lunch tickets) and donations to the Williamsburg House of Mercy and the Colonial Road Runners Scholarship fund are appreciated!

You CAN register for more than one race (run Saturday and Sunday). If you end up doing both, I will have some kind of special swag for you TBD! Please double check that you are registering for the version of the race you desire (competitive vs non). Overall awards will only be given in the competitive races. Depending on registration numbers, age group awards will also be added to the competitive races.

This race is Trail Sisters approved- more info on Trail Sisters here: https://trailsisters.net/about/

Men are also welcome to register. I would ask that you have a special woman in mind to run in honor of. I would also appreciate male volunteers to support the ladies on the course! Please let me know if you would like to volunteer by emailing me at ultraellen@gmail.com. Men are not eligible for awards.
