TURKEY TROT 4K -- presented by Canyon Track Club

As a Tribute to the Boise Striders, who held the Boise Turkey Trot Relay for 35 years, Canyon Track Club has revived the Turkey Trot legacy in the Treasure Valley! Join us for this pre-Thanksgiving Holiday Event on Saturday, November 23rd.

About the Turkey Trot 4K event

Come share in this revitalized Thanksgiving tradition by wearing your Thanksgiving garb, or just come dressed in your sleekest, fastest athletic wear, and set a new Personal Record! Enjoy the bagels and hot chocolate refreshments, and remember to pick up your new pair of dazzling Turkey Trot socks! (Yes, in keeping true to the Boise Striders event history, the socks are a tradition we continue to honor!) You must be present to win contests or raffles.
Canyon Track Club is a Not-For-Profit organization to benefit Youth Athletes. Registration for this event is not refundable, nor is it transferable.

Unfortunately, Vallivue Athletic Complex does not permit dogs or pets of any kind on the grounds. Please abide by this requirement, and help us honor and respect these facilities graciously offered by Vallivue Schools for this venue. Thanks!

Turkey Trot 4K is presented by Canyon Track Club, which strives to serve the people of Canyon County, Idaho and the surrounding areas of the Treasure Valley, promoting physical fitness among people of all ages through running and walking exercise. Coaches for CTC particularly encourage and teach children and youth to enjoy physical fitness through running and field events at an early age.

Run a Solo 4K, or with a Team

4K Solo Runners and Walkers participate as individuals.

4K Team members consist of 4 team members tethered together for the first 2K; the entire team drops the tether cord at 2K, and each team member runs the final 2K independently. Team Score by places compare with other teams for Team Placings. All four team members score in this event to complete the placings.

Boise Striders made this a very enjoyable event for 35 years. Canyon Track Club intends to keep that spirit alive! Run or Walk as a team with your buddies; with your gal pals; as a family; with three other people you just met. Or you can come and run in your pajamas if you like!

Turkey Trot 4K Course

For the record, 4 Kilometers is almost exactly 2.49 Miles! The course is mostly soft surface on grass.

The START LINE is located behind the press box side of the stadium on a grass surface. The course runs a perimeter around the most of the athletic complex and through the outfield area of the softball fields. From there the course winds its way onto the Track, taking participants up to the 2K mark, where teams drop the tether. Complete the second lap, and finish on the FINISH LINE on the Track.

Packet Pickup

Packet Pickup is available 8:15AM on the morning of the Run/Walk within meters of the start line.

Race Run/Walk starts at 9:00AM.

About our Fundraising Efforts

Proceeds from Turkey Trot 4K help fund the development of youth athletes for Junior Olympics, Nike Northwest XC in Boise, CHAMPS Western Regional XC (MT. The youth members of CTC also participate in numerous other local running events as they become available.

Canyon Track Club--Our Purpose

The purpose of Canyon Track Club is to serve the people of Canyon County and the surrounding areas of the Treasure Valley, promoting physical fitness among people of all ages through running and walking exercise. Our goal is to promote a positive environment where students of all ages can compete in Track and Field, growing not only in their physical abilities but growing confidence. Coaches for Canyon Track Club try to make a strong, lasting impact for each athlete. We encourage our athletes to give their best each and every day not only to get better for themselves but to positively influence other athletes.
Canyon Track Club members and participants have included athletes from Caldwell, Vallivue, Skyview, Homedale, Ontario, Greenleaf, Middleton, Emmett, Parma, Kuna, and Ridgevue schools, as well as numerous private schools, charter schools, and home school associations. Many former club members have gone on to compete at the collegiate level this decade--some winning All-Conference Events, competing in Finals at National Events, and some winning All-American Academic Awards as well.

Canyon Track Club--Our Story

Canyon Track Club was founded in 2005 by Brian Faulks and Jim Trapp. It started out with just a hand-full of runners, but in a few short years grew into over 50 athletes. We have had athletes achieve many different accolades through running at Canyon Track Club such as All-State and All-American Honors as well as significant Academic Achievement Honors in the classroom.
There are no paid coaches for Canyon Track Club, Inc. Coaches for the Club have a combined 100+ seasons of coaching experience in all aspects of Track and Field. Coaches offer their time and effort, working with athletes to develop and improve their fitness and overall technique. Coaches share expertise in distance, sprints, hurdles, relays, jumps, and throwing. We strive to promote excellence by challenging our athletes to become the best that they can be, yet at the same time, we encourage them to develop running as a lifestyle habit so that they may enjoy the many health benefits of running for years to come.
