Come Support the CCETS!

Join us for our FOURTH year of trail running in Boutwell Hill State Forest!
Hoof It on the Hill is a fundraising trail race for the Chautauqua County Equestrian Trail System. It utilizes portions of the horse trails, the Earl Cardot Eastside Overland Trail, snowmobile trail and some forest roads.

CCETS is maintained by a group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and management of the horse trail systems in Chautauqua County, New York. They work to enhance and maintain the trails for sustainability for public use on state, county, town and private lands. The trails are also used by hikers, bikers, trail runners, birders, dog walkers, cross country skiers and more!

Trail Description

You will run through pine and hardwood forests, meadows, across creeks and streams, and up and down a few steep hills. Expect to get wet and muddy - this is a trail run, after all! There are some sections of forest road, some single track/technical trail, and some double track/snowmobile trail. The 52k is the 26k loop twice. The 26k and 52k distances have a short stretch of asphalt road.

There will be no aid stations for the 6k, one water stop for the 12k, two aid stations plus two water stops for the 26k loop, plus aid at the start/finish area for those doing two loops. Aid stations will have water, sports/electrolyte drink and typical ultra food (pb&j, m&ms, pretzels, pickles, cookies, fruit, chips, etc.).

Elevation gain:
6k - ~300’
12k - ~630’
26k - ~1300’
52k - ~2600’

Crews are allowed at the Start/Finish (Ruttenbur Aid Station for 52k) and at the Boutwell Hill Aid Station (26k and 52k only). Drop bags will also be allowed at Boutwell Hill AS for 26k and 52k runners.
