Branch Brook Classic

Join us at the historical Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ for a 3 and 6 hour race at the tail end of the beautiful Cherry Blossom Festival on May 3rd. The course is a flat 2 mile loop on a soft regenerative rubber that is ideal for runners that want to go fast or anyone looking for softer impact.

THIS EVENT IS STILL WAITING FOR PERMITTING. You will not be charge until the permitting process is completed but registering now does reserve a spot and the race is limited to 50 participants.

A majority of the proceeds for this race will go towards MissionCleanWater, a 501c3 non-profit redefining how we are approaching safe drinking water for domestic and international communities. They have seen first hand well intended clean water projects that fail turning into nothing more then a landmark and they want to change that. With a 100% success rate and solutions for more then 55,000 people, your registration will help impact event more people.

MissionCleanWater

The World Health Organization reports that 60% of clean water projects in Sub-Saharan Africa fail within the first two years. This is a problem we have witnessed first-hand far too many times. Well-intentioned clean water projects—planned too quickly or lacking proper oversight—fail and become nothing more than a landmark of what used to be.

MissionCleanWater was created to change this. We provide the training and resources necessary for communities to maintain their water systems for years to come. We believe in a future where everyone has access to safe drinking water. Let’s make it a reality. Our water projects are equitably distributed throughout communities and built using high-quality materials with professional management. We help train and organize local communities, including the establishment of locally governed Water User Committees.

The Problem
Many rural clean water points––especially hand pumps––were installed without considering the community’s unique needs. Organizations often rush to complete as many projects as possible, resulting in critical oversights. Poor materials, inadequate training, and lack of organization all contribute to system failures and abandonment.

The Solution
Since 2019, MissionCleanWater has put its grassroots values into action by creating or rehabilitating water projects for over 40 communities, 50,000 residents, and 5,000 students across North Central Uganda.

The Details

This event is for everyone. See how far you can go in your time limit. Enjoy a nice walk around the park with your family. Or test out a new racing strategy. Since this is a timed event, if you do not finish your current lap before the timer ends, then it will not count.

At the race start and finish location will be an aid station stocked with a wide variety of drinks, snacks, hydration, and first aid. We will not be preparing any food. There will not be any other aid stations along the loop.

Race packets will be sent one week prior to the start date.
Check in: 6:15am-6:45am
Race start time: 7am

Runners are allowed to bring their own supplies, pacers, and support crews.

Course Description

The course is a flat 2 mile loop that is on a soft regenerative rubber that provides more support then a track. About 50% of the trail will be shaded for a majority of the run. The trail is wide enough the entire time allowing for easy passing and navigating around walkers and other runners.
The park will not be closed to regular visitors so it is important to be kind when passing someone.

Fundraising

We are opening a fundraising component to all our races. For anyone who raises $500 towards our clean water projects, they will receive a full refund and guaranteed entry to any future races.
Send an email to James@missioncleanwater.org and we will create a personal page for you similar to this one, https://missioncleanwater.org/kevin100.
