Kodiak Mountain Series
Which sauce are you going to bring? Whether you mustard your way up or hot sauce your way down, we recommend both sauces for this 3-day stage race. But don’t let these shorter routes fool you—you’ll need every ounce of grit (and maybe a trusty pair of purple tights) to tackle our steep single-track trails. With jaw-dropping views of surrounding peaks and the chance to spot a whale spouting below, we bring fun, alternative approaches to our favorite local mountains with the Kodiak Mountain Series.
Results are as follows:
There are 3 races over 3 days. Results are determined by adding up each participant’s times from all three races—the lowest total time wins in the Men’s, Women’s, and Teams categories, with no age divisions. Additionally, we will have a King of the Mountain (KOM) award for each race to recognize the fastest ascent to the top of each course, with no divisions.

Stage 1 - Heitman Mountain
5.91 miles with 2,238ft of gain - This is a one-way course offering a quick up with a little ridge fun once at the top. On the way down, you’ll pass Heitman Lake before a fast finish to the bottom.
Stage 2 - Sharatin Mountain
7.76 miles with 2,777ft of gain - This course begins on single track, starting up Red Cloud TH. This will quickly put you into the alpine, where shale and rock become the M.O. for 1/3 of the course. This rounded summit offers up quick running across shale, but be careful not to trip, as you just may be distracted by the 360-degree view. After summiting, you’ll move down into Shelly Lake, an absolute picnic of a spot. A quick climb out, and then it’s a hot trot down to the finish.
Stage 3 - Pyramid Mountain Loop
5 miles with 2,138ft of gain - This course begins on single track up Pyramid mountain. You can expect clear green flagging where single track may split off in order to keep you on track. Once you summit you will head down the ridge eventually splitting off to the right. The trail here can often be missed, green flagging will keep you on track until you get back to single track. Once you hit the road you'll take a right and bring it home.
