Welcome, Brave Adventurers
Return to the realm. On March 13, 2027, Bad Luck Run Club brings back Auburn's most legendary fantasy trail run, The Quest! Adventure Run. This year's event will be bigger, bolder, and with even more chaos waiting in the woods. Choose your path: a 6 mile sprint through the realm or a 12 mile odyssey. Expect a mini Renaissance Faire, with vendors, music, & food. The Journey both begins and ends at Ponderosa Cider Co. in Auburn, CA, your tavern of choice before and after battle.
How The Quest! Works
Choose Your Class - Before the quest begins, roll your fate. Every registered adventurer rolls a virtual D20 to determine their character class: Frog Knight, Mage, Rogue, Bard, Druid, or Knight. Form a Party - No adventurer conquers the realm alone. Assemble a party of 2–3 runners before the start line to unlock class-based party bonuses that shave time off your final result. Side Quests - Your journey won't be complete without them. Scattered along the route are designed side quests requiring everything from riddle solving and scavenger hunts to physical challenges and tracking down missing Goblins. Each completed side quest earns a time reduction bonus, the more you finish, the better your shot at glory.
Hunt the Bosses - Keep your eyes open. Legendary creatures roam the course. Find them, face them, and earn your reward.
Quest Gear - Every runner receives a custom D20, an official The Quest! shirt, a trail map loaded with quest details, and a post-run cider from Ponderosa Cider Co. Costumes are strongly encouraged, your outfit doesn't need to match your class, it just needs to honor the realm.
Your Fate Awaits - No two adventures are the same. Complete side quests, stack your bonuses, and watch your adjusted finish time tell the real story of your quest. The runner who combines speed, cunning, and quest mastery will be crowned Champion of the Realm.
Volunteering
Every race here only happens because volunteers show up to run it, aid stations, course marshals, packet pickup, all of it. Give one shift and you're not just helping runners finish, you're getting $120 credit toward any BLRC race for your trouble. Show up, hand out some water, make a few new friends, and walk away with credit toward your next start line.
