What is Fast Feet Fridays?

A Part of Survivorfest Running Event. Fast Feet Fridays is a FREE weekly running program for kids in Sherwood Park - Edmonton and surrounding areas. Held at 6pm on May 1, 8, 15, & 29, and June 5.

Hosted on Treaty Six Territory and the homeland of the Metis Nation of Alberta, Region Two and Four now known as Sherwood Park, Alberta. It is a privilege for us to provide an inclusive event on the land that carries the footsteps of Cree, Metis, and Blackfoot amongst many other Nations, who have been here for thousands of years.

Thanks to Windsor Plywood and our volunteer coach Brittney White, this program is FREE!

Dates:

Registration opens April 1 at 7am.
For those registered, Fast Feet Fridays will occur May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 and June 5, 2026

Fast Facts:

- free, community-based running program for kids ages 4 - 16
- Maximum 150 kids with 10+ parent coaches
- Fun, inclusive, non-competitive running and movement
- opportunity to prepare kids for the Survivorfest Kids' Race on June 12
-$20 race is optional. We strongly encourage kids to celebrate their hard work as a celebration! They will receive lots of cheers from volunteers, a race day cookie (last year's sponsor was Confetti Sweets Cookie YUM!) and race medal. All profits will go towards Saffron Centre to provide educational programs and workshops for children in our community schools

Program Goals:

- Promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles in youth
- Build confidence, resilience, and self-esteem through movement
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment
- Encourage goal setting and personal achievement at all ability levels
- Create a sense of community and belonging among participants and families
- Provide accessible programming regardless of financial or athletic background

Parent Participation:

- Parents/guardians are encouraged to stay on-site during the program
- More specifics: Parents/guardians are required to remain on-site and participate with children ages 6 and under. For children ages 7–9, parents are asked to remain on-site but participation is optional. Participants ages 10 and older may be dropped off, provided all registration and emergency contact information is complete.
- Parents are responsible for informing staff of medical conditions, allergies, or special considerations and ensuring children arrive prepared (appropriate footwear, water, weather-appropriate clothing)

Weather Policy:

The program will run in most weather conditions, including light rain
Sessions may be modified (shortened, lower intensity, more breaks) in heat, cold and/or wet conditions
The program will be cancelled or postponed in the event of lightning or thunderstorm, extreme heat or cold warnings, hazardous air quality and/or unsafe field/ground conditions
Communication of cancellations will occur via email and Survivorfest FB page by 2pm
Participants should always come prepared with proper running footwear, weather-appropriate clothing (layers, hats, sunscreen, etc.) and a water bottle
