Set against the stunning backdrop of the Serra de Sico limestone terrain, ancient Roman roads, and lush mountain forests, each course is crafted to test and inspire. From the legendary 500K Ancient Quest to the accessible 13K trail, there is a challenge for every runner.
ANCIENT QUEST 500K - THE ULTIMATE ENDURANCE CHALLENGE

A multi-stage ultra that traverses the most spectacular mountain ranges of Central Portugal. Starting and finishing in Ansiao, the Ancient Quest takes runners through the Serra do Acor, Serra da Lousa, Serra de Sico, and the Serras de Aire e Candeeiros. The route passes through iconic locations including the historic village of Piodao, the schist villages of Talasnal and Candal, the mountain town of Gois, and the dramatic landscapes of Porto de Mos.
With 7 support bases (Piodao, Fajao, Gois, Candal, Ansiao, Olival, Porto de Mos), this is a journey through history, culture, and raw nature. Altitudes range from sea level to over 1,200 meters, crossing forests, river valleys, and exposed ridgelines.

ABOUT ANSIAO
Nestled between the coast and the interior of Portugal, in the Pinhal Interior Norte region of the Leiria district, Ansiao is the heart of the Serra de Sico. The limestone terrain is technical and relentless, demanding respect and resilience from every runner.
Legend has it that the Holy Queen, traveling the royal road, frequently gave alms to an Elder - giving these lands their name: Terras do Anciao (The Elder's Lands). The region boasts extraordinary heritage, from the Roman Villa of Santiago da Guarda to the panoramic views atop the Serra do Anjo da Guarda.

CERTIFICATION & PARTNERSHIPS
TAUT is certified by TORX eXperience, ATRP, ADAL, FPA, ITRA, and UTMB. Races score ITRA points and qualify for UTMB (Mont-Blanc World Series). Part of the National Trail ATRP Circuit, International Circuit TORX eXperience, ADAL District Championship, and TORX eXperience.
HOW TO GET THERE
Ansiao is served directly by the IC8 (connecting Figueira da Foz to Madrid) and the A13 (Condeixa-a-Nova to Setubal). It is approximately 20 km from Pombal, where access to the A1 motorway and the main North railway line is available.
