Inaugural Year — Where History & Grit Collide
April 30 – May 2, 2027 | Georgetown, California
Welcome to the inaugural Harvest & Howitzer Backyard Ultra — a last-runner-standing race on a private 100-acre Christmas tree and apple farm in the Sierra foothills.
The premise is simple: one 4.167-mile loop, every hour, on the hour, until only one runner remains.
Built by a team rooted in ultrarunning, Western States, Tevis, trail work, volunteering, and community, this race was created to feel like the sport we fell in love with: hard, honest, personal, and full of people who show up for each other.
No traditional finish line. No quick medal-and-go experience. Just grit, hospitality, history, and the question every runner faces each hour:
Do you have one more loop in you?
This is the backyard ultra you came for.
This is a gathering of the tribe.
The Heartbeat: Community, Crew & Campfire
This is a weekend campout, not a quick race. A private farm. Campfires, crews, families, and the space between loops—where the race really happens.
Come prepared to stay. Bring your people.
No corporate noise. No overproduction. Just land, loop, and community.
Includes a kids' race. Proceeds support local nonprofits.
The Howitzer: Know When to Lay It Down
In 1843, Frémont hauled a 1,200-pound cannon across the West—through brutal terrain, rarely used, never abandoned.
Until survival forced it.
He left it in the mountains.
Hauling the Cannon
Every runner carries their own howitzer—power, pride, stubborn will.
You push for hours, sometimes days. But this race is strategy, not force.
The best know the edge.
And when it's over, respect goes to the runner who pushed to the limit—and knew when to lay the howitzer down.
