Push Your Limits and Conquer the Sahara

Participants choose between 100 miles (~160 km) or 100 km, completed in a maximum of 40 hours of continuous racing through the Moroccan Sahara. Second edition, following the route of the MDS Legendary.

The Format: Ultra Endurance | Self-sufficient

• 2 distances: 100 miles (~160 km) or 100 km
• Choice of distance possible until the course split point (at 40km mark)
• Common start and common finish line
• Minimum pace: 4 km/h
• Maximum time: 40 continuous hours
• No overnight bivouac camp — race continues through the night
• Terrain: Sahara dunes and plateaus following the MDS Legendary route
• Elevation: ~875m D+ (100 miles) / ~580m D+ (100 km)
• Course fully marked with stakes every 50–100m

Itinerary

Day 1 – Friday, January 8 | Arrival
Participants arrive at Errachidia Airport (ERH). Shuttle transfers to Kasbah Hôtel Xaluca in Erfoud — the gateway to the Sahara. Check-in and welcome by the MDS team.

Day 2 – Saturday, January 9 | Technical Control
Free morning. Official equipment check and medical certificate review by the MDS medical team. Race briefing. Night at hotel.

Day 3 – Sunday, January 10 | Race Start
2-hour bus transfer to the start line. Race begins in the morning — the 40-hour countdown starts. Participants run through the night. Night in the desert (on course) or at hotel if already finished.

Day 4 – Monday, January 11 | Race Finish
Final hours of the 40h race window. Finishers transferred back to hotel as they arrive throughout the day. Night at hotel.

Day 5 – Tuesday, January 12 | Celebration
Awards ceremony. Gala dinner. Night at hotel.

Day 6 – Wednesday, January 13 | Departure
Shuttle transfers to Errachidia Airport. Optional extension to explore Morocco at own expense.

Weather Conditions

January in the Sahara: daytime 10–25°C sunny; nights can drop to near 0°C. Gear must cover heat, cold, and rain.

The Hotel - Kasbah Hôtel Xaluca, Erfoud

Located at the gateway to the desert. Traditional adobe architecture, Saharan atmosphere, modern comfort. Spa & wellness, pools, restaurant. Half-board included before and after the race.

Nestled between dunes and palm trees, this hotel combines Moroccan authenticity with modern comfort, making it ideal for preparing before the race and relaxing after your arrival. Built in traditional adobe, it offers a warm atmosphere blending tranquility, Saharan culture, and hospitality.

How to Get There

Fly to Errachidia Airport (ERH), Morocco. Typically via Casablanca connection. First shuttle from airport: January 8 from ~10:00.
No shuttle will be organized on January 7, nor during the night of January 7–8. Your first night at the hotel will therefore be from Friday, January 8 to Saturday, January 9.

Transfers will be organized throughout the day on January 8, starting around 10 a.m. A final shuttle will be specially arranged during the night of January 8–9 to accommodate participants arriving on the flight scheduled at 11:59 p.m. on January 8, 2026.
Purchase flights with cancellation/modification insurance.

Safety

During the race, you will be supported by medical and organizational teams from the start to the end of each stage. The courses are marked with stakes every 50–100 m, making it impossible to get lost. All participants will be equipped with a GPS beacon with an emergency button, allowing the organization to locate you at any time.
