The Brokenagan
Welcome to the Brokenagan, where trail running meets raw endurance and relentless determination. Taking place at 5,500 feet in the stunning Silver Star Provincial Park, this event offers two equally intense formats: the 24-Hour Endurance Run (separate course) and the Backyard Ultra. Whether you're a solo runner chasing your personal best, part of a relay team out for camaraderie and challenge, or testing your mental limits one hour at a time in the Backyard Ultra—this race has a place for you.
Surrounded by wildflowers, alpine forest, and a peaceful mountain lake, this race isn’t just about distance—it's about heart.
Course Description
Backyard Ultra: One loop every hour, on the hour. Miss the start of the next loop, and you're out. The last runner to complete a solo loop earns the win. If no runner completes more loops than the others, there is no winner. The course is a 4.17-mile loop featuring single and double track trails, a mix of hard pack and grassy terrain, and plenty of elevation and scenery to keep things interesting. Each loop winds through lush forest, open meadows bursting with wildflowers, marshy lowlands, and past a crystal-clear mountain lake, all set along the well-maintained cross-country ski trails of Sovereign Lake Nordic Club.
Race Formats:
- 24-Hour Solo Endurance Run: Complete as many 5km loops as you can in 24 hours. (Separate course from the BYU).
