RACE THE HOURGLASS
The distance stays the same.
The clock gets shorter.
Complete your loop before time expires. Make it? You earn another round.
Then the Hourglass turns.
Next round, you get one minute less.
How long can you keep answering the clock?
HOW IT WORKS
CHOOSE YOUR HOURGLASS
RUN: 2-mile loop.
HYBRID: 2-mile loop + 10 burpees every round.
WALK / RUCK: 1-mile loop.
Different ways to take on the challenge.
Same clock.
Same shrinking rounds.
Same question:
Can you make one more?
BEAT THE HORN
Finish your loop before time expires and whatever time remains is yours.
Catch your breath.
Eat.
Drink.
Sit down.
Make questionable calculations about future rounds.
Then line back up.
Miss the cutoff and your Hourglass is complete.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE AN ULTRARUNNER
Run it.
Walk it.
Ruck it.
Come chase the win, chase a distance you have never covered before, or simply see how long you can stay in.
There is no minimum number of rounds.
Your finish is wherever the clock finally catches you.
THE STRATEGY CHANGES EVERY ROUND
Go too hard early and you may pay later.
Go too easy and the shrinking clock may find you sooner than expected.
How fast should you move?
How much should you eat?
How long can you afford to rest?
Eventually, endurance becomes a race against time.
MAKE IT YOUR RACE
Maybe your goal is 10 miles.
Maybe it is your first half marathon.
Maybe you want 20, 30, or more.
Maybe you came to win.
Maybe you honestly have no idea.
Perfect.
Take the first round.
Then earn the next one.
GENEROUS ENCOURAGEMENT
Competition and GENEROUS ENCOURAGEMENT belong on the same starting line.
Cheer for the leader.
Cheer for the athlete chasing a personal record.
Cheer even louder for the person coming around the corner with seconds left.
The field gets smaller.
The cheering section gets bigger.
MAKE IT A DOUBLE TAP
FRIDAY NIGHT: GRIT
Run a mile. Burpee broad jumps. Beat the 15-minute horn. The course gets longer. The clock does not.
SATURDAY: THE HOURGLASS
Run, walk or ruck. Complete your loop. Watch the clock shrink.
Two challenges.
One weekend.
Welcome to the DOUBLE TAP.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A welcoming start/finish area.
Aid-station support.
Music.
Community.
A repeatable course.
Plenty of encouragement.
And one increasingly rude clock.
Bring your normal fuel, hydration and endurance gear. Every round brings you back to the same home base.
FRIENDS AND FAMILY WELCOME
Come watch.
Bring a chair.
Cheer people through the start/finish.
Watch athletes race the clock as the rounds get tighter.
You may arrive planning to spectate.
You may leave wondering whether you should register next time.
SHOW UP
There is no perfect pace.
There is no magic number of rounds.
There is only the next one.
The distance stays the same.
The clock gets shorter.
You keep showing up.
Until you cannot.
RACE THE HOURGLASS.
